Tallahassee - Part 1

Friday, May 1

After two weeks of walking through the woods, the group finally approached the edge of the forest

"Up ahead. We'll find the compass just over the ridge" Hook, who was leading the group, said

Snow, Emma and Angie were at the back of the group "Do you get the feeling he's leading us exactly where Cora wants us? That this whole thing's a trap?" Snow asked her daughters

"It's definitely a trap" Emma replied

"But as long as we know they're trying to play us..." Angie said

"We can stay one step ahead of them" Snow caught on their plan

"Exactly" Angie told her

The rest of the group had stopped just a few feet away, right outside the forest, and when the trio joined them, they saw a gigantic beanstalk in the distance, stretching up towards the sky and getting lost in between the clouds

"No way" Angie murmured

"Let me guess, the compass is up there?" Emma asked Hook

"Oh yeah" he replied

"So how do we... get to it?" Angie wondered

"It's not the climb you need to worry about. It's the giant at the top" Hook told her

"Great, then what are we waiting for?" she said, taking the lead this time

Tuesday, May 5

Emma, Snow, Angie, Mulan, Aurora and Hook were almost at the base of the beanstalk when Emma spoke

"It's a little freakier than I remember form the story" she said

"Reminds me of death" Mulan commented

"Encouraging" Snow replied

"Well, your compass awaits. Shall we?" Hook said

"Wait, if these beans create portals, why not just pick one and go home? Why the compass?" Angie asked, having been thinking about it for a while

"Because there aren't any more beans" Hook explained "Whatever story you think you know, my dear, is most certainly wrong"

"There was a guy named Jack and a cow, and something about evil giants with a treasure and a golden goose. Or harp" Emma said

"Sounds like a lovely tale. But the truth's a little bit more gruesome" Hook replied

"Isn't it always?" Angie remarked

"The giants grew the beans, but rather than use them for good, they used them to plunder all the lands" Hook began telling the story "Jack was a man who fought a terrible war, defeating all but one of the evil giants. The beans were destroyed by the giants as they died. If they couldn't have the magic, then nobody could. Certainly very bad form"

"Evil giants, who made magic portal beans? Why doesn't anyone just go up and grow some more?" Emma asked

"Weren't you listening to the story. One giant survived" Angie told her

"Aye, the strongest and most terrible of them all" Hook said "And we'll have to get past him to-"

"The magic compass" Snow finished for him

"Indeed. The treasure remains and amongst it is the compass" Hook explained "Now, it will guide us to your land. Cora has the means to open a portal with the wardrobe ashes, but she can't find your land without the compass. Once we get it, steal the ashes from her and we're on our way"
