"W-where are we going?" We've been driving for about 30 minutes, and I was getting bored.
"You'll see" I shrug in my seat, and pull out my phone and headphones to continue with my audiobook. It's some quotes about equality, whether it be feminine equality or race equality, these quotes are projected in such a beautiful way.
"Statistically, a woman is more likely to be hurt by a man than to be eaten by a shark, hit by a car, be attacked by a bear, crash in a plane, or be bitten by a spider. When a woman expresses fear for any of these events, she is still seen as a rational person. When I tell people that I am afraid of swimming in the ocean because I'm afraid of sharks, they accept it almost without question. But when I tell people that I'm afraid of men, that men scare me more than sharks and spiders and freak plane accidents all combined, I immediately lose their respect-"
"We're here." Even with the calm lo-fi music in my ears, I can still hear the dominance in his voice. I put my unfinished book back in my bag, and walk out the car, careful not to put any pressure on my ribs.
I look outside, and it seems as if we're on the richer side of town. "Wh-"
"Don't ask questions." And I instantly shut my tramp. I should already know better, my father never let me talk without any permission.
Leandro goes to grip my wrist to start leading me towards a store, but I wince, and already making the move to pull my hand back. He notices and let's go.
I lower my head, forgetting about what he told me in the restaurant last night. Thinking of it, I signed a contract. What does this make of us?
He starts walking, and I have to start jogging, to meet up with his long strides. We enter a jewelry shop, and I'm amazed by the marble interior. I know that my father was rich, but I was never really exposed to richness, because my father hated wasting money on me. That's why I had to start working at such a young age, to buy the essential things a girl needs.
We continue walking into the store, and we enter a secluded room, and Leandro sits down on the plush cushion in the middle of the room. I continue walking around, looking at the beautiful art on the walls, and all the pieces' of jewelry displayed in their cases. After a few minutes, a beautiful woman comes in the room, and smiles at the both of us.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Marsai and future Mrs. Marsai. My name is Lilian, and I am here to assist you to find your engagement and wedding rings. Shall we get started?" Leandro nods his head, and the lady opens the door, to reveal more people coming in the room with royal blue and crimson red cushions. I see some sparkly pieces.
"The blue cushions are for your engagement rings, and the red ones are for your wedding bands." The other people leave the room, and now it's only the three of us.
I come closer to the cushions and start looking at the rings. As my eyes are wandering, one ring sticks out to me. It's a beautiful diamond rectangle, surrounded by smaller diamonds on the band, and it glimmers in the light. Leandro sees me gawking at the ring, so he picks it up.
