Reality check, no he didn't.
I'm currently laying in bed, thinking of what transpired in the last few days. My father gave me away to some man I don't even know, and now, I'm supposed to get married, just to get my father out of bankruptcy. My fiancé doesn't even want to talk to me, as he has come home late during most days. I've simply been reading and working at the flower shop, and occasionally writing.
He never does things for me. It's always for selfish reasons. He never has me in his best interest. Never my mother, so why me? He only married my mom, because of the inheritance he was going to get, and because she had a pretty face. But sadly, before my grandfather from my mother's side died, he changed the will, and made me the sole inheritor of his businesses, and I think that's why Leandro, on the days that we talk, tries to form a relationship with me. I don't want anything to do with it, and as much as I love my current hobbies, I'm going to have to step up, and take control of what was left behind.
I toss around to the other side of the bed, and my hand brushes on my mother's emerald bracelet. I sigh, as her memories are refreshed in my mind. I slowly drift into my sleep, as our dearest moments play on a loop.
"Catch me, mommy! Catch me" I yelled as I ran through the dandelion fields, and my mother trailing behind me, a wide smile etched on her face. I hear he melodious laughter, as the wind blows around us. I run all the way up the mountain, and I feel two arms under mine, picking me up.
"I got my حبيبي!" I giggle as I'm lifted in my mother's arms. I wrap my hands around her neck, and turn around to look at the view. The pink and yellow shades in the sky are shinning bright, signaling that the day is coming to an end. (dear)
"You're so pretty, mommy, just like the sunset!"
"Thank you, my love. You're so very pretty as well, don't ever doubt it." I smile and bury my face in her neck. She always had this fragrance on, and it calmed me so much. It brought me comfort and courage.
"You smell good, mama."
"Thank you حبيبي" I hug her neck tighter, never wanting the feeling to go away. (dear)
"I love you so much, mommy. Never leave me."
"I Love you so much, to the moon and back and I won't leave you, baby. Never. But what's up with all the compliments" I hope she wont get mad at me like daddy was. No, mommy loves me, and she would never be mad. Right?
"Well, I told daddy that I loved him, even if he didn't come home, and he hit me" I feel my mother tense, as she lowers me to the ground.
"What? Where?" I turned my left cheek, where daddy had hit me, and mommy touched it. I hissed since it was so fresh.
"I'm so sorry baby. I'll go talk to him, but you must know that your daddy loves you, regardless of what he might do. Okay, my love?"
"Yes, mommy"
Lies.
I was simply collateral damage to him.
He never loved me.
"Hey Lunae, it's time to wake up" I hear Kiandre's voice wake me up from my dream. I turn around in the sheets, which makes Kiki laugh. "No, seriously, get up. I have a photoshoot, then I'm taking you to brunch so dress cute" She smacks my bum, as runs out the room laughing. I chuckle as well and roll myself out of bed. I make the bed, and head to the bathroom, to take a shower. I borrow a little of Kiandre's bodywash, this girl has the best things.
I step out and wrap myself in a silk kimono bathrobe. I dry my hair, and I head back to the room. I scour my luggage, also checking in with the weather. It seems to be a good day, so I continue looking in all the clothes I currently have on hand. Kiandre walks in the room, fully dressed.
"Are you trying to pick out what to wear again?"
"Yeah, you gave me too much options" She laughs, and crouches by my side. She pulls out some light washed jeans, and a pink blouse. She grabs a pink bralette, and hands them to me. "Change into this and adjust it how you want. Hurry though, the shoot is soon" I nod at her, and start changing into the beautiful clothes. They fit me like a glove. I have a few visible bruises, and I try covering them with the blouse, but it doesn't work. I just cover them in foundation, run a brush through my hair, and add a little lip gloss.
"I'm ready!" I walk out of the room, and Kiandre's waiting for me in the living room. She turns around, and she has a pair of shoes in her hands. "Hey, I'm done. Did you grab your shoes?" My eyes widen and I look down at my feet.
"Um, no. Let me go grab a pair quick. I can wear heels, right" Please say no, I really want to be comfortable.
"Yeah, you can. Some white ones would match. Maybe the one's you were wearing yesterday." I sigh and turn to go find the wretched devices. I wear heels because I have to. I'm going to have to wear them a lot, might as well get used to it. I slip on the 5-inch heels and walk out.
"I'm good now."
"Great let's go" Kiandre grabs my hands, and we walk in the car waiting outside. "Uber for Kiandre?"
"Yep" We settle, and as the driver brings us to the brunch place, I stare outside at the scenery. It's a gorgeous day in London, and the sun is shining. I look down at my hands, and my gaze stops on the big rock setting on my finger. They symbol of commitment, of love. That suddenly reminds me that since we are engaged, we're going to have to get married soon. I'm going to have to look for a wedding dress, and making the preparations for my big day. The big day that I never wanted.
"What are you thinking about, lulu?"
"Honestly, my wedding. I'm 23 and abut to get married. It sounds crazy in my head, but I know it's the reality I live in. And I'm scared." I turn my body to hers, and lay my head on her shoulder, as she runs her hands across my arm.
"I'll always be here for you, Lunae. I'll be there at your wedding, supporting you, and however else you need me. Mm'kay?"
