Baelon II Velaryon is the son of Rhaenyra Targaryen. Just like his mother he was a strong willed dragon rider. Built for the clouds and forged for fire. He was meant for greatness. But the legacy of his family weighed heavily on his shoulders.

There was a dim flicker of light, as the candles slowly died. The wind softly rustled the sheer curtains. The atmosphere was calm and quiet.
The moonlight reflected beautifully against the pale flooring.
Aemond lay bare-chested on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, thinking of Baelon, while simultaneously cursing himself. He had promised himself to forget the older prince, to forget everything that made him so desirable.
Aemond felt incomplete, he felt like he failed. He couldn't stand the emotions of wanting a man, he felt defective, that no matter what he did, he wasn't the perfect son, who would marry the perfect daughter.
But Baelon was unforgettable.
....
In the older prince's room, he lay beside Arianne, with her hands on his chest. He stared blankly at the burning fire of his furnace. He had a light sheen of sweat on his forehead, but for Arianne, he kept the fire burning. "What are thinking of my love?" Arianne asks, her shoulders bare and resting against her pillow, with her head pressed against his.
Baelon turns to meet Arianne's gaze. "Of us and our child." Baelon whispers
Arianne smiles, "I do hope they have your eyes, they are such pretty eyes." She whispers
Baelon smiles. "But we both know that's not where your mind is." She teases, bringing a finger up to trace his lips. "You're right, you always are." Baelon sighs, shaking his head as he stares up at the ceiling. "It's Aemond, he got under my skin. I wanted to prove to him that I'm not some little kid, who is easily pushed around. But I was putty in his hands. It has never been like this.....I-I don't know how to describe it." Baelon whispers
"It's like a fire." Arianne offers, "You dragons are fueled by it. I love you....you are my soulmate and the father of my child. And it pains me to see you so unhappy. I know you care for me, I never doubted it, but I want you to have this. Don't fight the fire in your heart, my love, do what you must ravish him, be the dragon I know you are." Arianne states, leaning over him.
Baelon smiles softly as he reaches up and cradles the side of her face. Arianne slowly closes her eyes, bringing a hand to cradle her stomach. "Imagine the horror, the great prince of Westeros in love with another prince. Maybe you'll have two brides?" Arianne teases, opening her eyes.
Baelon scoffs a laugh. "Only you Arianne Sand." Baelon teases
"Though I honestly can't imagine that man a bride, maybe you. But he's in no way the woman in the relationship." Arianne says
Baelon gasps, staring wide-eyed. "And I am? What stereotypes are you pushing here?" Baelon scoffs
Arianne giggles. "Promise me, though. Promise me that you won't forget about me?" Arianne asks "Never." Baelon whispers earnestly. Arianne smiles softly.

A/N
Sorry y'all, this is a short chapter. I wanted some anguish and fluff before we head into the drama.
I also wanted to explain the dynamic of their relationship. At first, Arianne was a political play, marrying a bastard to another bastard. Baelon wanted to taunt the greens even more. And I know I changed the color of his son's hair, buttt, like in Baelons character description, his changed as well, so I wanted to make it a little more obvious.
But we all know Alicent and the Greens won't accept the obvious.
Also, I wanted to clarify Baelon's sexuality. To say it the plainest way possible, he's undefined. He enjoys women and obviously, he can form emotional attachments with women, but it's harder for him.
Arianne is a sexual partner, but he doesn't love her in the way a man should. He sees her as a friend and a lover. IDK how to explain, but you'll see the dynamic of the two in the future.
As for Helaena and Baelon....Baelon cared for her, but he couldn't love her the way he loved Aemond, especially with her being his sister.
Baelon is a complicated character, but I enjoy his complexity so much. I want him to form relationships and romances. I don't read many books like this, maybe not at all, so it's new.
And please forgive me for portraying Baelon as a bad father, more Maegor content is coming soon.
Please leave your opinions on the character dynamic, I love hearing from you guys.
