There was a loud scream of pain emitting from a modest canopy, the curtains were splayed open and pushed to the side.

Three midwives were standing around the bed while a maester stood in the middle of it.

Helaena was rested against her pillows, her face flushed and sweaty, her hair damp and matted to her head. One of her midwives pats her forehead dry with one of their wash clothes, trying to make her as comfortable as possible.

"Come on princess one more push." The second midwife begs.

Helaena shakes her head, "I-I can't do this! Please!" Helaena begs, and she silently pleads for Baelon, she needs him by her side.

"Yes, you can Princess." The midwife soothes

Helaena pushes up, her hands on her splayed legs, she grunts as she pushes, her face reddening. Helaena releases a terrible scream.

The maester leans closer, catching the infant in his hands, eyes widening in shock. "Impossible." He breaths

The third midwife leans closer. "What is it Maester?" She asks, leaning over the princess's legs with a pair of sheers, her mouth falling open in shock.

Helaena pants softly, looking concerned. "What is it?" Helaena asks, worried that her baby was dead and they weren't telling her.

The maester slowly lifts the newborn. A dark mop of bloody brunette hair presents itself. Helaena feels a small smile bloom on her lips, perfect.

"Is it a boy or girl?" Helaena asks, not addressing the concerns of the Maester. "Uh, it's a boy, your grace." Maester states, swallowing harshly, he didn't know how he was going to tell the husband.

"Oh don't worry Maester, brunette runs in the family." Helaena states with a small smirk, amused by the fear in his eyes. It almost made her forget the next part. The after birth.

....

Baelon stood beside the sandy shore, waiting. He wore a white tunic and loose breeches, his sword attached to his hips. His dragon wasn't far from him, his large muzzle planted firmly in the water, biting down at the fish that would foolishly swim past him.

"Your grace, a letter." A timid voice announces, Helaena's messenger. Baelon quickly walks over and snatches the letter, tearing into it.

The young Prince scans through the text, his shoulders tense. The letter was vague and not addressed to anyone, but he understood every word.

'The sun shines on us, my lovely friend. A strong horse graces the kingdom, with dark locks as his mane.'

Baelon can feel the happiness in his veins, but he stops the smile from gracing his face, keeping a stoic face. He looks back towards the messenger. He didn't trust the plain-looking male. He knew Alicent had spies everywhere.

"Tell the princess congratulations, I hear celebrations are in order." Baelon states

The messenger nods and he leaves the prince's sight.

Baelon smirks, stepping towards his dragon. "Enough fishing Vermithor, we have to speak with Mother. Celebration is in order." Baelon states, only to roll his eyes when Vermithor huffs.

....

Baelon stepped into the Dragonstone castle, marching boldly towards the battle room, where he found Daemon waiting. The tall imposing man faced the fireplace, which burned brightly, heating the room.

Daemon turns to him when he hears his approach, a proud smirk on his lips. "You brilliant fucker." Daemon says, making his way over and clapping a hand on his shoulder. "Tell me, what's the sex?" Daemon asks

Baelon chuckles. "It's a boy." Baelon answers, his cheeks burning from the permanent smile on his lips.

Daemon squawks a laugh, clutching his stomach.

Everyone heard about the scandal, the princess birthed a strong boy with shocking brunette hair. The rumors were flying everywhere, wondering if the husband was even the father.

"What is with all the commotion?" Rhaenyra asks, patting her pregnant stomach, her long blonde locks pinned up. She stepped away from the terrace, missing the message of Helaena's labor.

"Your son here has secured your throne. Helaena birthed Baelon's bastard." Daemon states gleefully.

"What." Rhaenyra breaths, eyes widening.

"I understand how it sounds to you Mother, but me and Helaena came to an agreement, she didn't want Aegon's child, so we met as often as possible. I secure you the throne and Helaena is happy with a child that isn't her awful brothers." Baelon states

Rhaenyra doesn't reply, taking in what he just told her. "Baelon." She breathes "Helaena is just a girl, she doesn't understand the gravity of the position you placed her in. She will be ridiculed and not mention her horrible family. If the child was born with hair as dark as yours, they will shame her." Rhaenyra states

"My love, he secured your throne, it wouldn't matter. As Queen, you can execute Aegon and marry your son to the princess, or you can very well silence the rumors as an act of compassion." Daemon states

"Do you even love the girl?" Rhaenyra asks

"What is love when it comes to the Game of Thrones?" Baelon asks "I understand the position we are in, I understand that Helaena will deal with the court's scorn, but when hasn't she? She's a dreamer mother, they will always gossip and despise her. I would never pressure her into carrying my bastard. And at the end of it, no one will suspect it was me who fathered the child. I made careful measures to make sure that I was never spotted. I have thought this through." Baelon states

Rhaenyra sighs. "You are truly Daemon's son." Rhaenyra admits

Baelon smiles, while the man wasn't his birth father, he was Daemon's image. "Has she named the child?" Rhaenyra asks "No, she left that up to me....but I have to decline the privilege. It would look inappropriate if Helaena took that away from her husband." Baelon says

"So we wait." Rhaenyra states, softly rubbing circles on her stomach. When she imagined a grandson, she didn't expect unable to hold the child. It broke her heart. She had done her best to raise Baelon and the boys with love, not for political gain.
