Baelon II Velaryon is the son of Rhaenyra Targaryen. Just like his mother he was a strong willed dragon rider. Built for the clouds and forged for fire. He was meant for greatness. But the legacy of his family weighed heavily on his shoulders.

War Room

Reckon watched as Baelon discussed with the Maesters, he noted the moment he was told that his sister was dead. Baelon stiffens completely before his hand comes up to his mouth, his brows furrowing, and he struggles to keep his emotions in check. His other hand was balled up into a tight fist.
"Thank you." He comments softly, his mouth barely moving, almost as if hadn't ever said. The mourning prince turns away from the room and leaves, the scent of copper forger engraved into his mind. "Baelon." Reckon whispers, following after him.
He went to comfort him, but the prince didn't allow him to, turning towards him, eyes hard like steel.
"You are too a send message to your father, tell him to gather his bannerman, tell him that we are preparing for war." Baelon says "The princess does not plan to start a war, you are disobeying your mother's direct orders." Reckon states. He values Baelon as a friend, but he knows that he can't treat him as such, he needs to treat him as the prince of Kingslanding.
"She doesn't understand the gravity of the situation, none of you do. War is inevitable, we should prepare for when it finally breaks. Your father and I have made a vow, if I promise you a seat on the council, which has changed from Master of War to Hand, a greater honor that he doesn't deserve, and in return, he promises to go to war for our Queen. It's time Reckon." Baelon says
Reckon shakes his head. "We can't, not yet, think of your mother, of your wife! What if this war does to her what it has done to your mother? Forgive me for not jumping at the chance!" Reckon exclaims
Baelon approaches him, grabbing his cloak. "I gave you this, I made you someone, don't forget that! I am your prince and your future king! When I tell you to do something, you do it!" Baelon states
"Baelon." A soft voice breaths
Baelon turns and sees his wife at the end of the hall, she looks upset, her hand resting softly on her stomach. She slowly approaches, just enough to see the tear tracks on her face, she was previously crying for the loss of Rhaenyra's child.
Mourning for her mother-in-law.
"What are you doing?" She whispers, she almost can't believe him. "You want to go to war?" Arianne asks "Arianne, war is not something anyone wants, but it must be done, if we don't strike first, they will. What if they take you, thinking that some bastard won't be missed, they will use you to leave a message." Baelon says
"You should hear yourself Baelon." Arianne says, shaking her head, and backing away. "Arianne you are carrying my child, you do understand what that means to them. You are a threat to the usurpers, please forgive me for being crass, but it's the reality of our lives. I don't want to go to war, no one does." Baelon states strongly, his throat straining with anger.
He notes the widening in his wife's eyes, she approaches him, lifting her hand to cup his cheek, with her other hand she gently touches his upper lip, blood coming onto her fingers. "What's happening to you?" Arianne asks, she's seen this before, in prophets, men, and women who are considered witches for seeing the future.
But Baelon hasn't shown others qualities. It's coming together for Arianne, her father had this same affliction before he died. He would always babble on about Ice and fire, of death.
"My love, what are you seeing?" Arianne asks gently, trying her best to coax him into talking to her. "I see everything." Baelon whispers "I see your death and the death of our child, I must win this war before it kills us." He states, gently grabbing her hand from his face.
Arianne looked terrified.

A/N
It was so hard to write this chapter lol, I went through it so many times! I didn't want to rush to the end of the season, not yet and there was still so much I haven't touched.
I know Baelon is acting like a real dick to Reckon, but war is coming and he's been betrayed by Aemond, so he's pretty hurt and anxious, especially with the prophecy.
