(Bonus, filler chapter)
Quackity POVThree knocks on the door is all it took me to guess who it was. His knocking is unique in its own way.
"Come in!" I shouted.
I crack a smile at the sight of the tall brunet carefully entering the office. "Hey, Quackity" Wilbur smiled as well.
I put the pen aside and intertwined my hands to hold them in front of me. "Lock the door behind you because I don't want anyone to interrupt us." I calmly say.
Wilbur did so as told without questioning me and then started to walk towards me "I'm here now. What was I called in for?" he seemed to be looking around in the office, probably making sure whether Schlatt was in here or not. I made sure to call Wilbur in to me while we were alone because I actually liked the alone time with him when we were in the forest. That privacy felt really peaceful.
But we won't talk about what happened after that.
"Nothing too important, don't worry, I would just like some of your company." I smile at him. "So, make yourself comfortable."
Wilbur sat down on the edge of my desk and looked down to me "Is it not too bad that I'm skipping my work?"
"If I was the one that wants you here, then it's obvious enough that it isn't bad. Schlatt doesn't give a shit, so? Relax."
He nodded and his gaze travelled across the paper mess on my desk "What were you doing if I'm allowed to ask?" he lifts his eyebrows at me.
I follow his eyes "Just signing some stuff, accepting payments, all sorts of that boring crap. I need a damn break" I grabbed all those papers and put them aside to a cleaner pile now.
"Wow, bet it's so exhausting sitting in your chair all day and signing papers as a co-owner. I feel so sorry for you" he grinned at me, sounding full of sarcasm.
"Pfft, shut up." I stood up and stretched by lifting my arms high above my head to make my shoulders and back pop. I crack my knuckles as I go around the desk to sit down beside Wilbur.
"And? How are you feeling otherwise?" I see the effort in Wilbur trying to make conversation with me.
I exhale "Pretty good, things are going well for me since today. Nobody's getting on my nerves, the hunt went calm for us two and I get to spend my free time alone here" I lean back to reach into a drawer and grab my fancy engraved metal cigarette case to light myself a cigarette. I press the end to my lips to inhale the smoke and exhale it in the opposite direction of Wilbur. "How's Karl? Recovering? Dying?" I nonchalantly ask as I was busy with my cigarette once again.
"He's still in his room and Sapnap told me that he is checking in on him every now and then. He seems to be recovering quick."
I gave Wilbur a side eye and see him staring at my cigarette.
I hum "Good to know. He'll be back on his feet in no time then" My hand flicked the spent ashes into the tray and I silently hand over the cigarette to Wilbur then. He accepted that without a question, desperately taking a puff just how I expected it. "And George? Wasting away his time or is he actually doing something?"
"I don't know about that, I haven't seen him after the hunt. It's as if he vanished after the incident, nowhere to be seen."
"Eh, probably just in his room" I shrug with my shoulders. I look down to the floor and secretly eye his right hand that's placed flat on the desk, supporting his upper body. I study the manly, simply good looking structure of it. It doesn't look too bad..
"Where's Schlatt though? Can't help that he's missing. He's normally always here everytime I was here"
"He went off to his room, drinking his day away. He doesn't feel like doing anything anyways, so I just advised him to leave at this point. That's why it was the right time to bring you here because you know how he always judges me everytime you come. Making all those dumb fucking comments" I roll my eye.
