A couple months passed by and James found himself in a cafe waiting on Michelle to arrive. He took a look at his watch and made sure the time was adjusted correctly. A radio in the room was playing It Is What It Is by Lifehouse.
He looked up and saw Michelle and smiled. He got up and walked over to her and greeted her with a brotherly hug.
"You made it." James said. Michelle smiled.
"Hey, James. Yeah I did. And so did Steve." She said and Steve appeared from behind her. He wore a face of shyness and remorse. James looked at him and lended out his hand to shake.
"Hey Steve, thanks for coming along." James said. Steve smiled slightly and shook James' hand. The two then walked over to the table and sat down. Suddenly, a car sped by, blasting The Gist by CheVelle.
The three reacted to this in distaste but didn't let it ruin their little get together. The three indulged themselves in conversation and talked for what would have felt like centuries to someone other than them. But they enjoyed this time. This once in an infinite timeline. Laughter and joy resonated with them with hope and simplicity. Then, the get together ended as the three left the cafe. Michelle turned to James and smiled at him.
"I'm glad to see you're doing better." She said. James smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, me too." James said. "I finally have accepted the things that will be, if you know what I mean." Michelle nodded.
"Of course." She said.
"Hey take care, man." Steve said. James snapped and pointed both of his forefingers at him and smiled.
"Right back at you, Steve. Take care of my sister. That's all I ask." James said and he walked off, crossing the street.
James hummed a tune as he did so when all of a sudden a car sped by blasting The Gist again. Michelle warned James to look out but it was too late as the car ran over James and kept speeding away. Everyone gathered around James' body and observed his state. Michelle told Steve to call the ambulance and told James to stay with them and not die and assure him that everything would be alright.
But deep down inside James knew it wouldn't be alright, but he was fine believing it for his sister. He knew he was going to die and there was no stopping it. And finally, within a couple minutes James Maxwell passed away due to the severity of his injuries from the incident. The last thing James saw before everything went from white to black was Eileen holding his hand and walking with him to the pearly gates of Heaven as they slowly opened up, greeting him with a long forever eternity.
