Chapter 17

Some time passed after that day, with Adryn and Wesker's relationship continuing as normal. Despite Adryn's pregnant rage she now felt, along with some morning sickness every now and then. Wesker still remained by her side though, comforting her and calming her down so she didn't murder anyone.

The trials started up again, with The Entity giving everyone more breaks and actual days of rest. Wesker hadn't been required to go back to the trials right away, but as Adryn started showing and everyone in the realm heard of their news, The Entity decided it was time for him to go back to doing trials.

Adryn was required to stay with Eclipse and Taemin when Wesker was in his trials. Adryn hated being without him, but she was enjoying spending time with Eclipse and Taemin again. Without Wesker there, Eclipse felt more free to talk about normal things they used to talk about. At the end of his trials, Wesker would always go and pick Adryn up from her friends. They both missed each other too much to be away for too long.

Eclipse still didn't approve of Wesker, but she was warming back up to him. They were mostly just polite to each other for Adryn and the baby's sake. Wesker had become more protective of Adryn. He wouldn't let her away from his side when he was with her. He wouldn't allow the other killers or the other survivors to talk to Adryn. If anyone wanted to talk to her, they would have to come to her during her time with Eclipse and Taemin. Wesker didn't trust anyone else around Adryn. It was like he thought anyone and everyone would hurt her.

It'd slowly grown to the point where Adryn was upset with him, more so than usual. Adryn just wanted to live her life normally, but Wesker wouldn't allow that. He didn't see that she was upset with him at all, and if he even noticed, he wrote it off as her pregnancy anger, not true anger. So, Adryn's feelings of anger and bitterness toward Wesker grew and grew, until they finally burst out of her.

Adryn and Wesker were getting ready for bed when Adryn remembered something that Eclipse had told her.

"Chris and Jill want to hang out with me again. It's been a while since I've seen them. They miss hanging out with me." Adryn commented as she fluffed her pillow.

"Not happening. I'm all you need. You don't need your 'friends', especially not them." Wesker didn't snap at her, but his harshness was still there. He had been refusing to allow Adryn to see Chris and Jill for a while now. Adryn instantly felt a flood of anger come to her at his words. She couldn't help her actions, as she threw her pillow at Wesker. It hit him on the head, as he was too surprised to stop it. Adryn then got up from their bed and glared at him. "What's wrong?"

"You are what's wrong! I don't need to be shielded from Chris or Jill, or any of the others for that matter! None of them are a threat to me! Remember that The Entity wouldn't allow anything to happen to me?! I'll be fine if I hang out with my friends sometimes!"

"Why would you want to hang out with anyone else? Aren't I enough?"

"You're great and all, but I want my friends too. I love them and I don't want them pushed out of my life completely."

"But you don't need anyone other than me. We're having a baby together, why need anyone outside of us?" Wesker had clearly begun to think that Adryn only needed him. He sometimes didn't even think she needed Eclipse and Taemin. This proved to be too much for Adryn, as she snapped at him without thinking.

"I don't need you! I don't need this baby! I don't need all the hovering and the protection! I just want it all to be done! I'm tired of being secluded and hidden away from everyone!" Adryn yelled out at Wesker, before immediately freezing and realizing what she'd said to him. She then realized that she'd messed up, badly. The look on Wesker's face was unlike any she'd seen before. He looked hurt. She could see it in his eyes as they glowed with an unknown emotion as he stared at her. He tried to not allow it to show on his face, but he was grimacing in pain. He then took a deep breath and went neutral.
