After our talk by the creek, Cade left to go help the rest of the pack with training. I went back to the cabin and found Peter and Nadia feeding Mina in the dining room. Elder Knight had already left, so now the cabin was quiet again. I decided that I would go for a short run before doing anything else even though I hadn't even had breakfast yet. I needed to release all the tension that plagued my body and the only way I knew how to do that was by running. I went back outside and ran onto one of the trails. First I started running in my human form, but after thirty minutes or so, I stopped and took off the sweaty clothes and shifted. Running in my wolf form always felt freeing to me and I looked forward to it. After a long awaited run I stopped at the creek again like I normally do and rest. I look up into the sky and took note of the dark clouds taking up the sky. Looks like it's going to be a rainy day. I get up and stretch before heading back to the cabin. I shifted back and put on the now damp clothes. I'm almost the house when a howl breaks through the air. The hair on the back of my neck stands and my wolf stirs. I rush inside the house and find Nadia carrying Mina to the front door. Peter rounds the corner almost running into me.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"Rouges." He says quickly. "I'm taking Nadia and Mina to the pack house. Daniel asked me to tell you he would really appreciate it if you helped."
"I'll ride with you." I say feeling the tension seep back into my muscles. "Where are they attacking?"
"They are at the east side but Daniel sent some of the guard to the south, so I'm not sure anymore." Peter said as we hurried to the car.
We jumped in and Peter took off as fast as we could. I could feel the worry and fear radiating from Nadia which made me very uneasy about all of this. I hadn't actually fought in a real fight in years. Not since Roman was the Alpha and that was almost fifteen years ago. The trip to the pack house was fast and we arrived in record time. Nadia hurried inside with Mina and Peter and I ran to the back where Daniel was barking orders.
"Josh, Terrance, and Nate go with the guard to the south border." He yelled and the three ran off.
He saw us and rushed over. "I need you to come with me to the east. Some of the guard is there but this is a larger rogue group than last time and we need all the help we can get." He said as we started running into the woods. "Shift and get there as fast as you can."
I shifted immediately in mid-run and ran as fast as I could. Daniel and Peter did the same but where slightly slower than me. We arrived at the eastern border and skidded to a stop. There were rogues everywhere. Most of the guard was shifted and fighting back but some fought in their human form which was impressive. We jumped into the middle of the fight and ripped into the rogues. Growls, snarls and yelps of pain were the only sounds that could be heard and the smell of blood tainted the air. Soon with more than half of the rogues injured or dead, they retreated. Daniel howled and everyone followed him into the woods towards the south. I followed and ended up at the front by the time we arrived at the southern border. By then it was pouring rain and it was having an effect on the way we fought. Wolves would lung and when landing they would lose their footing and slide. We jumped into the fight and started helping the others. Mud mixed with blood, coating our fur and made it hard for us to fight. I lunged for a wolf and bit into its shoulder. It yelped and growled, struggling to get loose. I thought I had this one when I felt a sharp pain in my hind leg. I let go of the rogue and spun around snapping at the rogue that bit me. My body started heating up and my back started to ache just like the other day. That must mean that my wings were trying to show themselves. Would they even come out with me shifted like this? I growled at the wolf who had taken a step back snarling at me. His fur was matted and covered in mud. We all were. The pain in my back increased and I snarled in pain. The rogue took that as a chance and lunged at me. He was knocked to the side when a large dark brown wolf ran into him. One of the guard attacked the rogue while it was down and the dark brown wolf stood next to me and sniffed. I did as well and knew right away that it was Cade. I nodded my head and glanced around. Another rogue was creeping up behind Cade. I charged passed him and tackled him to the ground. As I stood back, the pain in my back was released and I felt a new energy surge through me. I felt something close but couldn't quite figure out what it was until I glanced back. My wings...they were up and spread wide. They were light grey with streaks of black. I growled at the rogue who cowered in front of me and he took off into the woods. Everyone in the clearing stared at me. I howled and all of the rogues that were left ran into the woods. I settled back down and felt the energy fade. I glanced back and saw that my wings had disappeared. Cade came up to me and nudged me, then nodded to the north. He wanted me to follow him. We walked off into the woods leaving everyone left in the clearing shocked and confused. We picked up speed and started running. Being exhausted, he was able to keep up with me easily. We arrived at the pack house and I ran ahead of him into one of the back rooms that were only used for shifting and getting clothes. I shifted once inside and rinsed off in the small shower. I hurriedly dried off and put on a fresh set of clothes that I'm guessing were for guys since they were big on me. I walked out of the room and into the hallway. I could hear voices and headed towards them.
