Staring at the ceiling of my small room I mentally went over everything that had happened in the last few days. Nadia had her baby, the Guard came into town, I found my mate and found out what I was. Things felt the same but with Cade's scent catching my attention I knew it would never be the same again. I rolled over and saw him sleeping on the floor only a few feet away from my bed. He was different than anyone I had ever met and I didn't mind being around him at all. Sure he was still an arrogant, prideful male, but he understood that I didn't take commands from anyone. He lay on his back with his left hand under his head and his right hand on his slowly rising and falling chest. He had wanted to lay next to me last night but fell asleep on the floor instead of asking me. He stirred and took a bigger breath. His eyes slowly opened and he yawned as he stretched.

"Good morning." I said quietly.

His eyes found mine and a smile spread across his face. "Good morning." He said and sat up.

"Would you like something to eat?" I asked sitting up and slid out from under the covers. " I can make something."

"Well...what do you normally eat?" He asked standing up.

"Eggs and toast." I said looking down.

"Sounds delicious." He said causing me to look up at him.

I nodded and walking passed him and into the main area of the cabin. I went to the fridge and pulled out the carton of eggs and set them on the counter before getting the skillet out.

"Do you want any help?" He asked stopping at the table.

"No, I can get everything." I said grabbing a few things out of the cabinet. "Just take a seat."

He nodded and sat down, but kept his body angled towards me. There were a few minutes of silence while I began making food until he started speaking again.

"I'm really glad that you let me come up here with you...I know it's not something that you'd normally allow but I'm happy you did." He said looking at me.

"Well...it was either this or stay in town and I feel much better being here." I said looking away from him.

I heard a small chuckle. "How long have you lived up here?"

"Awhile." I said quietly.

"I asked Knight how old you were, but he wouldn't tell me..."

My gaze flicks to his concentrated face then back to the skillet. "Do you really want to know how old I am?"

There were a few second of silence besides the sizzling of eggs.

"...only if you want to tell me." He said.

I thought for a moment. "I don't know an exact number because Knight was the one who calculated it, but from what he said...I'm..." I looked at him. "Over 300 years old."

The shock that filled his face was expected but still annoying. He ran a hand through his already messy hair.

"Wow." He whispered.

I quietly fixed both of our plates before turning off the stove. I brought both plates to the table and set on in front of him before walking back to get two drinks.

"How old are you?" I asked bringing two cups of water back to the table.

"Almost 160." He said looking at his plate.

"That's not too bad." I said and grabbed a fork.

His eyes went a little wide at an internal thought and he took a bite of eggs.
