We were all sitting around a table in a small room. We had already gone through security, signed forms, and talked to several supervisors. Cade sat across from me, reading Huxley's file. There was a monitor set up on the wall and it played the footage from the camera in Huxley's hall. The cells were concrete. Instead of bars, the openings were thick pane, wired glass. From the camera's position we could see someone entering the room and setting up a small table near the doors and setting a chair on either side. We could only see the chair on the side closest to the door. Everything else was blocked by the wall. Apparently each cell had two prisoners, so Huxley and I wouldn't be alone. I had finally convinced Cade to stay in here while I talk with Huxley. They were going to watch the monitor. Finally Beverly came back in the room.
"Are you ready?" She asks looking at all of us.
I want to make a comment about how I've been ready since we got here but I bite my tongue and nod.
Cade stands with me and pulls me into a hug. "Do not hesitate to walk out of that meeting." He whispers and kisses my forehead.
I hug him tightly before pulling away. I nod to the others and Apa keeps his face blank. I left the room and followed Beverly down the many halls. We got into an elevator and rode it down a few floors. Then we traveled down many more halls before stopping just before Huxley's cell.
"There are guards on either end of the hallway. All you have to do it press the button underneath the table and one of them will come let you out."
"Alright."
She walked forward and swiped a card near the door. It opened and she motioned me forward. I walked in and glanced at the camera in the hallway before the door shut behind me. At the front of the room, there were desks on either side. Then towards the back there was a bed on either side. In the middle at the back was an open doorway where I could see a sink and I guessed that the bathroom was behind the wall. On the right side, a man was laying in bed facing the wall.
"Don't worry about him." A rugged voice says and I look to the left. "He won't bother us."
The man from the left side of the room walked over and sat on the other side of the table. He was bald and very muscular. He had dark tattoos on his arms and brown eyes. His nose was crooked and he had a wiry mustache. He leaned back in his chair and stared at me. He was not who I was expecting.
"What do you want?" He asks.
I stared at him. "Did they not tell you?"
He continues to stare. "No."
I thought about what Knight said.
"But you requested the meeting..."
"That doesn't mean I know what you want." He shrugged.
I pursed my lips and shook my head. "Whatever. I'm here to talk to you about Theodore." I pause watching his reaction. "Theodore Claremont."
His eyes widen slightly but he makes no move to say anything.
"He...He's the one that turned me...he's built up a rogue army where I live and he's been attacking us."
The man on the other bed gets up and disappears into the bathroom.
"What do you want me to do about it?" He asks.
"Well...you created him so surely you can get him to stop."
"Why would I do that?" He asks. "Do you not know who I am?"
"This was a waste of time." I shook my head and got up. I turned to leave.
