The next morning I was woken up by the sound of a crying baby. I sat straight up in my bed and stared at my closed door. Her wails penetrated the walls as if they were nothing. I heard a door open and the sound of tired feet making their way down the hall. Another door opened and the screaming increased just a little bit. I hate kids. I don't mind them when they're sweet and do what they're told, but the moment they interfere with my personal space and make annoying sounds, that's when they become annoying. I groaned and lay back down as her shrieks quiet and the sound of Nadia's singing starts to lull both of us back to sleep. Just as I think I'm going to be able to rest more, the doorbell rings downstairs. I groan and feel irritation fill my nerves. This is why I live alone on the mountain. No one to irritate you but yourself. I rip the covers off and stormed out of my room and to the front door. I yanked it open.

"What do you want?" I asked harshly.

"Good to know that you aren't a morning person." Cade's voice rang in my ears.

My eyes widened and my hand fell from the door. I starred at him and his ridiculous smirk. He was wearing a grey t-shirt and black shorts along with a pair of running shoes.

"I..." I started regaining my thoughts. "I am a morning person. I'm just not a people person."

I turned away and walked into the kitchen. I heard the door shut and his footsteps that followed mine. I grabbed a strawberry poptart out of the pantry and popped it into the toaster before turning back to him.

"Why are you here so early?" I asked crossing my arms and leaning against the counter.

"I was out for a run and I figured that I'd stop by and see if you wanted to join me." He said sitting at the counter. "Also, I needed to ask what I could bring with me to your place."

"Well, normally I don't take anything, just because I run in my wolf form, but if you wanted to bring a backpack, we could hike in human form, it would just take the whole day and I'm not sure we would reach it before night fall."

"It's that far?" He asked looking surprised.

"Yes. What part of 'I'm not a people person' do you not understand?" I asked.

He rolled his eyes. "I can carry a bag in my mouth, I've had to do it before, but not for a long amount of time."

"Hiking would be okay." I said thinking for a moment. "You'll want to bring some clothes right?"

"Yeah."

"Then we will hike. Just pack light." I say as the toaster pops.

I grab them and put them on a plate before setting it at the counter.

"Sounds like a plan." He says standing up. "So did you want to run?"

I looked at the clock. "I would but the meeting is in almost an hour and normally when I run, I do it for an hour and a half, sometimes two if I have the time."

"Wow." He said. "Well then maybe another time."

I nod and turn to the fridge. I grab out a bottle of water.

"I'll see you at the meeting. " He says and starts to leave the room.

I shut the fridge and look at him.

"Okay." I said.

"Bye." He says and smiles before hurrying out of the room.

It's not until he's gone and I sit down that I realize he stole a poptart.

As I walk into the meeting room with Nadia and Peter in tow, I instantly spot Cade who looks at me as soon as I walk into the room. I walk towards him and he smirks.
