Valentine's Day was just another day to Seungmin. He found it cringe when he'd see people on the streets being all lovely. He wasn't against it, it's really just never not his thing.
This year was no different. He went to school, and to no surprise, the place was decorated with red hearts. Students were out here giving each other flowers, and even the teachers were receiving chocolates. He finds it a waste of time.
Hyunjin opened his locker and was surprised by the amount of letters in there. He wasn't popular at all, so this brought him shook, mostly because most of the letters came from the popular girls in school. "Those are a lot," Seungmin saw the pile of letters Hyunjin was about to throw away.
"Yeah, a lot of trash." Hyunjin shoved the papers in the trashcan but kept one inside his bag. "Why keep that one, though? Is that from a special someone?" Seungmin joked. "Sure," Hyunjin replied, walking away with the letter and leaving Seungmin behind.
"Hyunjin oppa, please accept my love this Valentine's - Regina" "Hyunjin-ah, I fell in love with you since the first day of school - Karen" "Be mine, please; you're so handsome - Cady" "This is Gretchen, 03*******25 call me <3"
Hyunjin gagged reading those letters. "I'm too gay for this," he muttered. He was glad he threw those away.
Seungmin arrived at his next class, seeing a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, and a white envelope on his desk. He assumed it was a letter, so he opened it. The paper was blank until he flipped it over and saw a note
"Be my Valentine? Yes or No?" he flipped the paper once more looking for a name, only to find out there was none.
odd, why ask someone out and then keep yourself anonymous?
He encircled the no in the letter and left it there for the anonymous person to see. He wasn't interested in things like those but kept the flowers and chocolates because this was the only time he had ever received such things.
"I'm so excited for later," Minho chimed. "Why is that?" Hyunjin asked, wondering why the older was acting such way. "Jisung and I are going ice skating! The best part is that he doesn't know how to skate, so he'll probably be clinging on the whole time!" Minho squealed excitedly.
"So, what did Seungmin reply to your letter?" He then questions, remembering that Hyunjin had asked Seungmin to be his Valentine... platonically.
"He encircled no..." Hyunjin embarrassedly uttered while Minho burst out laughing. "I can't believe you're making fun of me, hyung! The letter was your idea, I should've stuck with my plan of telling him in person!"
He just wanted to be the one to treat Seungmin this time like he promised and thought that Valentines would be the perfect time to do so... Guess not.
"What about the tickets you bought for the amusement park? It would be a waste not to use it. Those were expensive," Minho asked. Hyunjin's original plan was to bring Seungmin to an amusement park, so he bought the tickets in advance. He can no longer refund those since it was a Valentine's Day promo and he would look pathetic going there alone.
"I'll see what I can do with them later." The bell rang, indicating that school was over. Both went their separate ways "Bye, hyung."
He was walking in the school hallways when he bumped into someone, making both of them fall. "I'm so sorry, omg." Hyunjin stood up and saw that the person he bumped into was Seungmin.
The bouquet of flowers he was holding caused the bump since he couldn't see where he was going, yet Hyunjin was the one to apologize.
"No, it's my fault I'm sorry" Seungmin stood up. "No, it's mine. I shouldn't have given you such a big bouquet knowing that it would be a hassle to bring," Hyunjin corrected him.
"I'm sorry, what?" Seungmin blurted out. Was Hyunjin the one who gave him all those? Why not put a name, though?
"No worries, I completely understand why you declined the offer. No hard feelings, I promise." Hyunjin pondered. "But-" before Seungmin could speak, Hyunjin's phone rang. "Excuse me for a second." Hyunjin excused himself.
"Innie, what's up?"
"C-Channie hyung doesn't want me,"
The younger sobbed.
"What happened, Innie?"
"I confessed my feelings this morning, but after that, he's been ignoring me!"
Jeongin cried out.
"Innie, give him some time; maybe he's still processing what you said."
"No, that doesn't matter anymore,"
"What do you mean?"
"I skipped school after that and went to Busan hyung, I'm at the train station. Please send me your address."
"YOU'RE WHERE?!" Hyunjin shouted. "Stay where you are. Send me your location, I'll pick you up."
Hyunjin abruptly ended the call. "I have to go," he said to Seungmin, obviously in a hurry. Seungmin heard everything Hyunjin was saying but couldn't hear the one on the phone, so he was surprised when Hyunjin suddenly shouted.
"Need a ride?" Seungmin offered. "Yes, but not home. Bring me to the train station." They got in the car and drove to the location.
Seungmin was confused why the train station, but Hyunjin looked too frustrated, so he didn't bother asking why. Who was this Innie person, and why was Hyunjin so concerned about him? Seungmin didn't know.
