"Join the Survey Corps! We could use your help to kill all the titans" she said. My eyes widened at what she said. I blink my eyes in surprise. I don't really know how to react. Should I join the Survey Corps?
-Join Us-
Y/N P.O.V
I just stare at them as Hanji stares at me expectantly. They are all waiting for me to answer them. I take a step back and look away from them. "No... I don't want to" I said. I hear gasp coming from them.
"But why??" Hanji asked. I turn to look at her. She stares at me with a questioning gaze. "Why won't you join us? I thought you'd be happy at the thought that you can finally use your power for the greater good!" She said.
"In this country... titans are the reason humans aren't too focus on anything else. If they're gone... they'd divert their interest. On what? On Ajins. In other words... me! They'll try to capture me again and start those horrible things on me!" I said. I lower my gaze as my body starts to tremble from at the thought of that. Of having to go through all those horrible experience.
I let out a sob as I shake my head rapidly. "I don't want to go through that horrible thing again! I... I-I c-can't..." I said, in a shaky voice as my whole body starts to tremble. I quickly turn around and runs off somewhere.
I ended up by a lake. I sit down on the ground. I pull my knees closer to my chest as I start to cry harder. I bury my face in my arms as I start to sob. My whole body starts to shake violently as I keep crying.
"Y/N..." someone said from behind me. I flinch at the sound and turn my head to see Levi is standing there. He have his hands inside his pocket while staring at me. He walks closer to me and sits down next to me. I turn my head away from him. He just sit there in silence without saying anything.
"I'd like to be alone..." I mumbled, without looking at me. Levi stays silent. I turn my head to look at him to see he's still next to me, not showing any sign that he's going to move. I let out a sigh and hugs my knees closer to my chest.
"The thing you told us about... it's not the whole story, isn't it?" He said, finally breaking the silence. I place my chin on my arm as I stare at the water in front of me. "If you want... you can share it to me. Maybe it will make it easier for you to cope..." he said. I turn to look at him as he stares at me with his steel grey eyes.
He seem serious about wanting me to share my story. I bit my lips, not sure if I should trust him with my painful past. But Levi seem like he can be trusted. I let out a sigh and start telling him about my story.
When I was younger, I never had anyone that truly cares for me. Then I found out that I was an Ajin... a Demi-Human. My life that was already hard for me becomes even more unbearable.
It became worst when I got caught by the government. I remember... how scared I was when they caught me and forcefully took me with them to their facility. I shut my eyes tightly as I recall what happened.
"That's enough... if it's too hard for you to remember" Levi said, placing a hand on my shoulder. I flinch at the feeling of his hand. He quickly remove his hand. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable" he said.
I just stay silent as I stare at the ground. I lift my hand and wipe the tears away from my eyes. "It's okay. It's just... ever since I went through those things. I find it hard to feel comfortable around other people" I said. I turn my head to see Levi nodding his head at what I said.
"Yeah... I can understand what you mean..." he said. He turn to look at me and gives me a small smile. "And... I don't blame you for hating human" he said. I shake my head at what he said.
"I don't hate human..." I said. He stares at me with a look of confusion on his face. I give him a weak smile. "I'm... afraid of human, because just for the sake of getting what they desire... they're willing to do whatever it takes to make it come true. They did not care that their actions are putting others through so much pain... sure, I may have came back to life each time I got killed. But that didn't mean it doesn't hurt. I can feel everything... and the pain were unbearable..." I said. My body shivers as I recall what I've been through.
"But you don't seem afraid of me... why is that?" He said. I blink my eyes at what he said. He stares at me. I can see that he's genuinely curious. "Do you... trust me, Y/N?" He asked.
"Back in that facility... one of the scientists was the one who helped me by giving me a knife so I can cut myself free. I guess that gave me some sort of hope, and it made me believe that not everyone are the same... there are kind people in this world too" I said. He stares at me in silence. I look forward as a small smile form on my face.
"I guess that includes you. You know when not to try to approach me. And you instantly keep your distance and apologize when you realize you were making me feel uncomfortable. It gave me the impression that you're a kind person, Levi. So I guess, yeah... I trust you" I said. He blinks his eyes as he stares at me. Eventually a smile starts to form on his face.
"If you trust me... maybe you can trust Hanji too. She's also a good person. Yeah, she might be a scientist. But she never hurts anyone" he said. I just stare at him. He lift his hand, letting it hover above the air for a few seconds. He slowly place it on my shoulder when he realizes I'm not flinching a way. "Join us, Y/N... join the Survey Corps. You can be one of my cadets, and I will make sure no one will try to hurt you. I promise..." he said. From his eyes, I can see that he's being sincere. I may trust him... but can I trust the others?
