So I'd do everything in my power to prevent that from happening again. No matter what... I'd do anything to keep Levi alive. Even if I have to sacrifice mine over and over, as I value his life more than my own. My life would be meaningless without him.

-Meant To Be-

Y/N P.O.V

It's been 2 months since Levi got injured. He seem to be recovering faster than I had anticipated. He can walk on his injured foot a little. Of course, I would still help him walk better by allowing him to wrap his arm around my shoulder for support. I want to make sure he's completely healed before I let him walk on his own.

We enter the dining hall, to have our dinner. I gently help him sit down. I take a seat next to him as we start to eat. I grab the bread and take a bite. I turn my head to look at Levi as he also starts to eat.

"Do you want some tea, Levi?" I asked. He turn to look at me and smiles softly, nodding his head. "I'll go and make some for you, okay? I'll be right back" I said. I place kiss on his cheek. I stand up, walking off to make some tea for Levi. He surely loves his teas. Not a day passes without him drinking teas.

I walk back again holding a cup of tea. I place it in front of Levi. "Thanks..." he said. I smile softly and nod my head. I turn my attention to the food in front of me and start to eat. I turn my head to look at Levi as he starts to drink his tea. The way he holds the cup is quite weird. I wonder why he holds it like that.

He turn his head to look at me, seemingly noticing my gaze on his action. "What? You're curious why I hold the cup like this?" He asked. I turn to look at him and nod my head. "I'll tell you. But not in front of these people..." he said. I hum softly, nodding my head. He's probably a little embarrassed with the reason.

After meals, it's time to for Levi to have his therapy for his healing foot. Levi wrap his arm around my shoulder as I help him walk towards the room where he'd have his therapy. I place a free hand on his chest as I slowly guide him.

"So... about the cup" he said. I turn my head to look at him. He keeps his head forward for a few seconds and turn to look at me. "You didn't know about this. Well, it was my fault for not opening up to you. But it was just painful to remember. Sorry..." he said. I shake my head to assure him that it was fine.

"Anyway, I used live in the Underground. With two of my best friends. Their names were Isabel and Furlan. They were the only ones I had back then. Unfortunately, they died a terrible death during our first expedition. If they were here. They would have loved you" he said. My eyes sadden at what he said.

I've heard about that place a few times. It's the worst place in this area. All the people living there lives in poverty that no one receive proper care. Lots of women dies after giving birth due to the lack of proper medical care.

The fact that Levi have to live in that place for years. It makes me feel sad. But at least, he had two people who cared for him. I can't imagine the pain he'd gone through after losing those two. It must have felt so painful.

"Anyway, back to the cup..." he said, wanting to change the topic. I just stay silent, not wanting him to feel pressed into telling me about his live in that place. "All the while I was living in poverty... the only thing I always wanted was to get my hands on a good tea" he said. I stare at him in sadness. I didn't know he suffered that much as a kid. He notice the look and ruffle my hair a little.

"When I finally earned enough and finally got my hands on a good tea. The cup's handle broke when I was about to drink it. So, I kinda feel a little traumatized after that little incident. That's why I hold the cup the way I do" he said. I just stay silent at what he said. I feel bad for what he had gone through.

"But well, my past isn't as bad as yours..." he said. I feel shiver running down my spine, knowing exactly what he meant. He's talking about my faith as a lab rat, where all those mad scientists would experiment on me to rest if I am actually immortal as a Demi-Human or Ajin.

"Still, I wish things were better for you, Levi" I said. He let out a scoff at what I said. He lift his free hand to flick my forehead. "Ow! What's that for??" I said.

"If things were better for me. I probably wouldn't have ended up being here as a Survey Corps Captain. And I wouldn't have met you" he said. I let out a sigh at what he said as I gently rub the sore spot of my forehead due to his little assault.

"That may be true... but you know how soulmates works, right?" I said. He turn his head to look at me. "If we're both meant to be for each other. One way or another, we would have find our way to each other. Even if we're in a totally different situations than now. Whatever meant to be will work out perfectly" I said, smiling softly at him. His eyes soften as he leans his forehead against mine.

"Yeah..." he said, nodding his head. He cup the side of my cheek, caressing my skin with his thumb. I close my eyes in appreciation for his loving gesture. "I'm glad I found you, Y/N. I can't imagine myself with anyone else but you" he said, in a soft voice. I smile softly at him. My heart feels like they're going to burst with happiness.

"And I'm glad you found me, Levi. Meeting you will forever be the best blessing in my life" I said. He smiles at me and stops walking. He turn his body to face me as he lift his free hand to cup my other cheek. He leans in to place a soft kiss on my lips. I close my eyes, kissing him back.

I sit on a stool as I watch Hange-San guide Levi as he try to walk. I stare at him worriedly as he seem to hold his pain in. I wish Levi wouldn't keep up his tough exterior. He's a human too and humans would feel pain every now and then.

I stand up and walk towards Levi. I wrap his arm around my shoulder, guiding him to couch so he can sit down. He pat the spot next to him. I take a seat next to him, as his arm instantly found its place around my shoulder. I lean my head on his shoulder.

"He seem to be recovering faster than I had anticipated. And I predict that he'd be able to walk freely in a couple of days. You truly lived up to your title as "Humanity's Strongest Soldier,' ain't you, Shorty?" She said. I turn my head to see Levi scowling at the nickname she gave him.

"Shut up, Four Eyes. Even with my injured leg, I'd still be able to beat you up" he said, threateningly. I cover my lips as I try not to laugh as they start throwing insults at one another. But either way, I feel so relieved to hear that Levi will soon recover completely. Seeing him in so much pain truly broke my heart.

"Thank goodness... I'm so glad to know you're all right, Levi..." I said, turning to bury my face into the crook of Levi's neck as I place my hand on his chest. He wrap his arms securely around my waist as he held me close. I'm going to make sure the same thing won't happen again. I will make sure Levi won't get hurt again.
