Chapter 29

Previously on Chapter 28

"Sleep, Levi... you need to rest" I said. He just nod his head. He pulls me closer, making me flush against him. He buries his face in the crook of my neck. I start to play with his hair, as I listen to his breathing that's starting to evened out as he drift off to sleep. I close my eyes as I tighten my arms around him. Thank you for staying with me, Levi.

Y/N P.O.V

Since Levi can't walk around too much due to his injury, he requested for me to replace him to train his cadets. At first, I was hesitant since I don't have any experience in training people. But Levi assured me that he believes in me. So, I finally agreed to help him train the cadets. Of course, he's going to be there to look after me as I train his cadets.

I turn my head to look at Levi after I give the cadets some instructions on what to do. He nods his head in approval, assuring me that I'm doing a good job. I give him a small smile. I turn my head to look at the cadets.

Not much of us are left here. Some of them were killed by the female Titan a few months back. Which most of them were Levi's main squad; Petra, Oluo, Eld and Gunther. My eyes sadden at the thought of all the fallen members. It pains me to think of how much we've lost. But we have to move on for their sake and make sure their sacrifices won't be in vain.

"Cadets!" I yelled out. They stop and rush back towards me. They place their hands on their chest to salute me. I feel a little awkward with their action. "You've done well with today's training. Now, go on and take a break. You may leave the ground" I said. They move their hands from their chest and leave the training ground one by one.

I let out a sigh once they're out of sight. I hear an amused laugh and turn around to see Levi. I pout at him as I make my way towards him. I place my fists on my hips once I stand in front of him.

"What are you laughing for, Levi?" I said. I yelp when he swiftly wrap an arm around my waist, pulling me close until I'm seated on his lap. I hit his shoulder for his action. "Your leg is still injured, Levi! You shouldn't put so much weight on your leg!" I said, with a scolding tone. I move to stand up, but he quickly tighten his arm around my waist to prevent me from standing up.

"Weight? What weight? You think you weight so much?" He asked. I let out a sigh at what he said, making him chuckle. He places his hand on the back of my head and pulls me closer. "You've done well with today's training, Y/N. I'm proud of you... perhaps I should make you my second in command" he said.

"Oh please don't. I would feel so awkward. Especially since your new squad members are Eren, and the others. Everyone who are the same level as me" I said. He just chuckles at what I said. He nudge his nose against mine which makes my cheeks grow warmer. I let out a sigh as I place my forehead on his shoulder. "We've lost a lot of us, huh? Petra... Oluo... Gunther..." I mumbled. I feel tears slowly gathering in my eyes at the thought of them. Even though Petra and I aren't good friends. I still feel upset that she's gone. I feel his hand running gently through my hair.

"It can't be avoided. Neither of us expect that the Female Titan would attack us" he said. I pull away slightly to look at him. He lift his hand, cupping the side of my cheek. He gently wipe the tears from my cheeks. "The good thing is, they won't have to suffer anymore. They're finally free" he said.

Even though his face didn't look sad. His emotion reflects clearly through his eyes. I gently wrap my arms around his neck. I feel his arms tightens around my waist. He bury his face into the crook of my neck.

"You know you don't have to hide your true feelings with me, Levi. You can show your weakness to me" I said. As soon as I said that, I feel his body trembles as a hushed sob escapes his lips.

I close my eyes as I run my hand through his hair. I feel my shirt getting soaked from his tears. But I don't mind. Levi needs to let out his feelings every now and then. I'd gladly be the shoulder he needs to lean on.

After a while, Levi finally calmed down. He pulls away to look at me. I cup his cheeks gently and wipe his tears as he maintain eye-contact with me. I give him a soft smile to reassure him that he's not alone.

"I love you, Y/N..." he said. He lean his forehead against mine. He closes his eyes as I do the same. "I love you so much. I'm scared to lose you..." he whispered.

"I love you too, Levi. And you won't lose me. I'm a Demi-Human, remember? I won't die" I said. He nod his head, letting me know that he's aware about that. I give him a small smile. "So you shouldn't be scared to lose me, Levi. If anything... I'm the one who should be scared. You're just an ordinary human with only one life to spare. I'm the one who should be scared to lose you" I said. His eyes soften at what I said.

I tighten my hands a little on his shoulders as I try to stop myself from crying. He gently grab one of my hand, bringing it closer to his lips as he places a tender kiss on the back of my hand. He let his lips linger on my skin as he closes his eyes.

"I'll try my best to always find my way back to you, Y/N" he said, opening his eyes to look at me. He cup the side of my cheek and gently caress my skin. "I'll always be with you... for as long as I live" he said.

"I'll keep you alive. No matter how many of my lives I have to sacrifice to keep yours" I said. He frowns at what I said. He opens his mouth to retaliate but I cut him off by placing my lips against his.

"Please don't say anything, Levi. Please just let me go with this my way. I don't have any limits of my life. I just want to make sure you didn't lose yours" I said. He didn't say anything as he just stares at me. I smile softly at him as I caress his cheek. I lean in for another kiss.

I know he's against the idea. But regardless what he said, I'd still do it. He's my world as I am his. I don't ever want to lose him. The day he got himself hurt was the scariest moment I have ever experience. The thought of him dying was something I dreaded the most. It's even worst than when I was a prisoner of that lab.

So I'd do everything in my power to prevent that from happening again. No matter what... I'd do anything to keep Levi alive. Even if I have to sacrifice mine over and over, as I value his life more than my own. My life would be meaningless without him.
