Chapter 19

Previously on Chapter 18

"Y/N? Y/N... hey! Can you hear me?" I asked. But she remains unresponsive. I turn my head to look at the group of people present in the room. Y/N suddenly behave like as soon as she turn to look at them, making me wonder if she knows them or if these people have any connection to Y/N's past. One thing I do know for sure... Y/N is scared of them, and I will try to look for the reason.

Y/N P.O.V

I slowly open my eyes to realize I'm back in the hospital room again. I let out a sigh as I turn my head to the side to look at the window. My mind went back to what happen before my mind blacked out.

I sit up in panic when I remember the people I saw before blacking out. I feel my breathing getting heavier. I hear the door open and the sound of footsteps rushing towards me. I feel a pair of arms wrapping around my shaking form. I jerk away, trying to get the person to stop holding me.

"Hey. Calm down, Y/N... it's just me" the person said. I relax a little when I realize it's Levi. I turn my head to look at him and around the room. It's just the two of us.

"Levi..." I said, my voice cracking. My eyes starts to tear up as I wrap my arms around his torso. I lean my head against his chest as I start to cry. He wordlessly keeps me in his arms, letting me cry. He didn't seem to mind that I got his shirt dirty with my tears.

After a while, I finally calmed down. But I make no move to pull away from his embrace. I feel his hand caressing my hair gently. I close my eyes, moving a little to bury my face in the crook of his neck.

"Why are you reacting this way after seeing them. Do you know them, Y/N?" He asked. I just nod my head weakly. I shut my eyes tightly as I recall those people. My fingers clutches Levi's shirt, desperately trying to seek comfort.

"They... they're the scientists. W-Who e-experimented o-on me..." I said. I feel Levi's arms tensed up at what I said. I bit my lips, trying hard not to break down. My body trembles violently at the bad memories. "They're the ones who put me through so much pain, Levi... I-I'm s-s-scared" I said.

"No... you don't have to be scared. I'm right here. I will keep you safe" he said. I pull away to look at him through tears. He cups my cheeks, gently wiping away the tears from my cheeks. "I promise. I won't let anyone hurt you, Y/N. Not on my watch..." he said, smiling reassuringly at me. He have a look of determination in his eyes.

I just give him a small smile. He place a hand on the back of my neck, gently pulling me closer. He places his lips against mine. I close my eyes, kissing him back. I wrap my arms around his neck as he tighten his arms around me.

We pull away to breathe. Levi leans his forehead against mine. I close my eyes as I feel myself calming down. His presence near me always seem to have that effect. Levi always calmed me down by just being near me. It makes me feel so safe to be around him.

The door to the hospital room slowly opens. I turn my head to see it's Hanji. "I see you're finally awake..." she said. I just give her a small smile. She walks closer to me, placing her hands on her hips. "What happened to you? You suddenly collapsed after seeing those new comers" she said. I just look away from her. My hand clutching the front of Levi's shirt. Hanji furrows her eyebrows, staring at me in confusion.

"Don't make her talk about that right now... she's still pretty shaken up" Levi said, holding me close. I just place my head on his shoulder, as he tries to make me feel calm and comfortable. I close my eyes as Levi gently runs his hand through my hair.

"I see... I'm sorry for asking. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable" Hanji said. I pull my head slightly to look at her. I give her a small smile to let her know it's all right. "Alright, then. I have to go and do some errands. See ya!" She said. She turns around and walks out of the room.

"Hey... it's okay" Levi said. I turn my head to look at him. He smiles softly at me as he places a soft kiss on my forehead, letting his lips linger against my skin. I close my eyes, trying to savor the moment.

My stomach suddenly lets out a grumbling sound. I blush out of embarrassment. Levi pulls away to look at me and let out a chuckle as he looks at me.

"Hungry?" He asked. I just nod my head, looking down at my feet as I try to hide the redness on my cheeks. "Don't be shy, Y/N. It's just me. Now, come on. Let's head to the dining hall and get you something to eat" he said.

"Okay..." I said, nodding my head at what he said. He smiles and kisses my cheek. He gently grabs my hand. The two of us makes our way out of the hospital room. I glance at our hands, and gently entwine our fingers.

At The Dining Hall

Levi leads me to a seat and ask me to sit down. He'd be the one to grab some food for the two of us. I just do as he said, still feeling a little light headed after waking up.

"So this is where you ran off to..." a voice said. I flinch at the sudden voice and turn my head. My eyes widen when I realize the person talking is one of those bad scientist, who tortured me all those years ago. "Long time no see, subject 004... the 4th Ajin found after Nagai Kei..." he said.

Nagai Kei... is the Ajin that was found before me. He went through the same thing. The same torturous tests. Having been killed multiple times more than me. Not only that, Nagai Kei who was also my best friend.

I stand up and back away when he approaches me. My eyes wide in horror as I try to keep distance between us. My breathing gradually gets heavier, as I can feel the fear spreading through me.

The man reaches a hand out to place a hand on my head. I shut my eyes tightly, feeling scared out of my mind. But I didn't feel any contact. I slowly open my eyes to see Levi standing in front of me while holding the man's wrist.

"Keep your hands off her" he said. His voice sounds low and threatening. I can see the look of fear in the man's eyes. "Approach her again... and I'll send you outside the walls so you can be Titan's food. Do you want that?" He said.

The man quickly shakes his head at what he said, eyes pleading for Levi to spare him. "Then LEAVE and stay far away from my girlfriend!" He said. The man quickly runs away from our sights.

Levi turn his head to look at me. I lower my gaze to look at my feet. "It's okay now, Y/N... you're safe" he said. His voice sounded soft. I feel a pair of arms wrapping around me, as Levi pulls me closer. I close my eyes as I wrap my arms tightly around him.

My body trembles as I still feel the fear in me. Levi tightens his arms around me. I don't ever want to be near those people again. I don't want to be reminded of that horrible experience. Anything but that.
