Curiosity and uncertainty
—Shit, shit, shit. I fell asleep. –I exclaimed as I made my way to the dining room.
—It's unfair! –Lukia's scream caught my attention.
Without my being able to say anything to her, my sister's figure disappeared behind the front door. I knew that this reaction was about her fiancé, but I couldn't help but be curious about it. Who must be her fiancé?
He is mentioned in chapter five, but there is no physical description or even a simple name. Although it may have been discovered in future chapters who is...
Another thing I have to ask Kairi.
—Honey, eat breakfast fast or you’ll be late. –Luchia's voice brought me out of my thoughts.
—Yes, I'm coming. –I commented entering the room. –God, what an atmosphere in here. –I thought as I sat down and ate my breakfast quickly.
—Y/N, could you take your sister's backpack? She forgot it, you know what a mess she is sometimes. –It was noticeable how with those words she wanted to reduce the heavy atmosphere that was breathed in the air.
—Sure, no problem... –I mentioned a little uncomfortable when I had finished eating.
After that, I grabbed my briefcase and Lukia's backpack. Although I couldn’t help but wobble, as Hippo's weight was quite noticeable.
So, ready, I set off on my way with a bit of haste. I walked until I reached the building, went inside and looked for my sister's classroom.
—Lukia. –I said as I saw her near the door. –You left your backpack. Next time I'll leave it at home. It looks like you're carrying bricks. –I commented to her while I handed her the backpack, a bit annoyed. Although it doesn't look like it, Hippo weighs a lot.
—Ah, thank you. –She thanked me by taking the backpack.
—And who is she, Lukia? –A female voice rang out behind me, startling at her unexpected appearance. –Oops, sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, girl. –She apologized, positioning herself next to the brunette.
—God, what a fright... –I thought as I sighed and tried to relax.
—That’s right. You don’t know each other yet. –Lukia commented to Sango. –Sango, this is my sister Y/N. Y/N, this is my friend Sango. –She introduced us, to which we both shook hands in the form of a greeting.
—Lukia, you're so mean, you didn't tell me you had a sister. –She complained about the lack of information.
—I didn't know you had friends Lukia. I thought you would always be alone. –Now I spoke, sticking out my tongue in mockery.
—At least I have friends. –She commented with superiority.
—Well, I've got them too, just so you know. –I complained indignantly. –Even if it's only one. –I continued saying, this time in my head.
—Well, the doorbell's already rung. We'd better go in now. See you Y/N! –Sango said goodbye, walking with Lukia into her classroom.
—Shit. I'm late. –Realising the time, I rushed off to my class.
After that, the rest of the day was normal. Nothing remarkable. Nothing interesting. Nothing in general. On the course I was on, with no one noteworthy or relevant to the plot, it was obvious that nothing would happen to catch my attention.
It wasn't until lunchtime that things didn't perk up. It is in this part of the chapter that a strange attitude from both Sango and Shirahama is shown.
—Where... Where are they? –I wondered as I tried to catch a glimpse of Lukia and Kurosuna. –Damn. How hard it is to find my clumsy sister. –Standing a bit away from the people, so as to avoid disturbing or bumping into anyone.
—And what are you looking for? –Kairi's voice announced her arrival, standing beside me with her tray in her hands. –Do you want to know why the hyperactive girl and the surfer boy are spying on your sister and her crush? –She questioned as she walked towards an empty table, while I followed in her footsteps.
—Do you know why? –I asked, sitting down on the first chair.
—Yes, I do. –The red-haired girl answered as she sat down next to me. –Although I only know a few things about Sango. Shirahama is still a mystery even to me at the moment. –She continued, beginning to eat her bowl of ramen.
—And you're not going to tell me anything, are you? –I commented imitating her action, starting to eat..
—Exactly. –And with that simple word, I knew I would get no answer to my doubt. –As long as we don't affect the main plot, I have no reason to tell you things. Just as long as you know she's her friend, that's all right for now. –She kept explaining, looking into my eyes. –But don’t worry, when the time comes I’ll tell you everything. I promise. - After those words, she gave me a smile, bending his lips.
—By the way. Does Hippo's human form ever show? –I questioned again, this time, remembering the little blue penguin.
—This... Yes...? No...? –She answered hesitantly, not knowing exactly what to say.
—Which is it then? –I asked Kairi in response to her vague answer.
—Hey, I remind you that I only know what will happen in five chapters from now on. I don’t see the whole future, you know? –She reminded me, indignant at my attitude.
—Well, what a help you're giving me… –I whispered, finishing my ramen.
—Don't complain. Surely without me you could do nothing. –She replied with a remarkable tone of superiority.
—Ha, you think so. –I told her with a tone full of arrogance.
Shortly after that, the bell rang, indicating that lunchtime was over. And with that, my attempt to watch the scene between Lukia and Kurosuna vanished completely.
Anyway, with the conversation with Kairi my doubts calmed down a bit. I still had questions, but knowing she wouldn’t tell me anything (either because she didn't know or didn't want to tell me), I abstained and left her alone.
—But there is one thing I want to know. I'd better ask her later, though. She'll probably think I'm a pain in the ass… –I thought as I watched the green-eyed girl leave the dining room. It was there that I saw the couple I was looking for. –How ironic, isn't it? –I said mentally as I watched these two being followed by the other high school duet.
