Be like him

After that nightmare, the night was much calmer. Still, when I woke up, I couldn't help but feel an uneasiness in my chest. I was afraid. But I didn't know exactly what it was.
I was in the clouds all day. I didn't mind Lukia leaving without waiting for me, or all the times Kairi bragged about winning the bet. I felt tired, I didn't feel like doing anything.

—Domoto! –Snapping me out of my bubble, Yuu's voice brought me back to reality.

—Oh, hello. –I commented, turning to face him.

—I've been calling you for a long time and no answer. I even thought I had the wrong person. –The blue-haired man laughed as he placed his hands on his waist, leaving his arms like the handles of a jug.

—I'm sorry, I'm not feeling well today. I haven't slept much and I think it's taking its toll on me. –I said as I scratched the back of my neck, a little embarrassed.

—Huh? Well, you should take better care of yourself. I can't lose my first official club member. –He asked as he stepped in front of me, stopping our walk.

—Have you heard the news? –I asked a little surprised.

—Yep. –He replied briefly but concisely. –My tutor told me when I got out of class, so I came looking for you right away. I wanted to treat you to an ice cream to celebrate your welcome to the club! –The blue-stranded one declared, a big smile forming on his face.

—Really? –A little unsure of his proposition, not believing that he would be so happy to have me as a member of his club, I asked sincerely. Although considering how we met, his reaction was quite understandable.

—Yes! –He exclaimed energetically, once again flashing one of his big smiles.

—I'd love to, but I can't today. I promised a friend that we would go for ramen together. –I told him, remembering my misfortune.

—It doesn't matter. This saturday we'll go for ice cream, so make room in your schedule. –He commented as he walked back the way he came, giving me a shining smile.

—He's like a star that keeps shining in the dark sky... I wish I could be like him. –I whispered as I watched him disappear down the corridors of the building.

Yuu is so happy, full of energy, as radiant as the sun. If he was created by this world so that I wouldn't feel lonely, then it's the most selfish thing anyone has ever done for me. And for some reason, I can't help thinking that I'm privileged to have him by my side, even though I barely know him.
It's like the feeling I get every time I meet a new anime protagonist. Those suns that almost everyone loves and that, with less than one chapter watched or read, have already won over a lot of people. Maybe if Yuu were an anime character he would be loved by a lot of people.

—Huh? What am I thinking?! –I put my two hands together on my cheeks and squeezed them tightly. –It's true that Yuu reminds me a bit of Yuji Itadori or Tanjirto Kamado, but he's not an anime character. Technically, he'd be manga, but... No! I'm doing it again! –I slapped my cheeks again, harder this time. –Ouch~ –I sob from the pain on my face.

After that embarrassing scene that (miraculously) no one saw, classes ended, which meant going to Ramen.
Kairi insisted quite a lot in the last few hours, so even I (the one who pays) am excited to go. Maybe thanks to this I'll stop thinking about that nightmare.

—Well? –Asked the reddish-haired girl.

—Well what? –I asked.

—How is your life here? How is your relationship with your sister? Or your mother? –We were both eating in that restaurant, but when she said that, I couldn't help but stop eating.

—I... haven't really thought about it until now. –I commented without thinking. –I think it's fine, although I don't know if it's any different from the one I "supposedly" had before. –I added as I looked thoughtfully at the bowl of ramen.

—Yeah... Well, maybe you should spend more time with them. You're always out, doing homework in the library, exploring this part of town today... –After every word I said, my anger was growing.

—What do you want me to do? If I don't know the city, the least I can do is see the basics. –I reproached him indignantly.

—Yeah, yeah... –Kairi waved one of her hands, trying to play down the importance of the matter. –Well, think about what I said, okay? –She said before getting up from the table we were at and leaving the room, but not before saying goodbye to me.

When I finished eating, I paid for both of their meals. As Kairi promised, she ordered the most expensive dish of all, so my savings went down the rubbish bin because of her. When I left the restaurant, I headed for home. I didn't pass by the coast at any point, I didn't want to have any trouble with Fuku's fans today, I'd had enough of them for a while.
But my plans went down the drain when I saw Yuu in the distance. When I realised it was him, I couldn't help but stop and look at him carefully. He was standing on a lookout, leaning on a railing, watching the waves crashing against the threads.

—Domoto? –Asked the boy in the distance, when he turned and saw me in the horizon.

—Oh my... How long have I been standing here? I didn't realise he had seen me until now. –I mentally reproached myself when I saw him wave.

—What are you doing here? –He asked again, coming closer to me.

Before he could respond, a strong gale surged up from the vast sea, creating large waves that reached the top of the lookout. Yuu turned to see what was happening, but a tall wave appeared and knocked the boy down.
Alarmed, I ran towards him, but another wave (even higher than the previous one) appeared, sucking the japanese boy into the sea. Seeing this, I hurried faster until I reached the place where Yuu was before, and it was there that I could see how a sphere of air held the unconscious body of the blue-stranded boy captive.

—That technique... Sonata! –I exclaimed as I realised who had caused all this commotion.

—We meet again, little princess. –The woman greeted me, descending from the sky to stand on the metal railing, just like the last time I saw her.
