the appearance of being true or real.
Not all dreams are strong enough to create ambitions. Yet, Teyvat's skies will always have a place for those who dream beyond the veil. So dream on, dear one and...
The place I'm in is dark, cold, and lonely. There's no one here but my thoughts and the burning ache in my chest. It doesn't take long for that burning ache to spread throughout my whole body. It feels as though each and every blood cell in my body is on fire. Then, there's light and I'm no longer in the darkness. I gasp out a frozen breath. My surroundings are a little familiar. I'm in Dragonspine, it seems. Yet- there's something vastly different about the landscape. The giant bones of Durin do not litter the mountain side. A loud roar echoes in the air. A familiar dragon flies overhead and that's when I see it. The dark dragon known as Durin. Dvalin had landed the fatal blow, crushing the shadow dragon's throat, gulping down his poisoned blood and unknowingly taking on the curse himself. Dvalin released Durin from his deadly bite. The shadow dragon laid down, seeming to accept his demise. I watched as Durin stared up at the feathered dragon in awe. Not hate, but awe.
"Would that we had met in a different time and place." I gasped, holding my hand to my mouth as I struggled to keep the sobs that suddenly wanted to break free. Why am I crying? I rubbed away at the stubborn tears that continued to fall.
"It's not fair..." I understand now. I don't know how, but I somehow understand the story now. The dying dragon's head gazed up towards the floating island of Celestia in the distance. I could feel the same emotions that the dragon was feeling as he died slowly. He yearned for Celestia. I frowned at all of this new knowledge. In the current day, Durin is nothing more than a dark stain in the history of Mondstadt. None but Barbatos and Dvalin know of the true outcome. Then, I saw him. It was Venti... No, Barbatos... It was Barbatos before the dying dragon.
"Rest, child. Your fight has come to an end. May your soul soar above Celestia and the stars above." This was the first time I'd seen Barbatos's true form. His angelic wings spread out behind him, braids glowing as usual. Though, I'll have to tease him later about the very revealing outfit he wears.
Soon after Barbatos had spoken, the scene had darkened. The last thing I heard was the shadow dragon's voice once more.
"Now then, this great blessing that pulses through my veins,"
"And lovely sight of the dark universe that gave me birth..."
"They are now yours to inherit."
I gasped. The pain was back in full force. Tears fell from my eyes in river droplets as the pain consumed my very being. It feels as though I'm being torn from the inside out. I... I can't handle this pain anymore... It's too much! I can't even get a word out as the screams of pure, unadulterated pain leave my lips. Is this what it feels like to die? Would it be better to just give in? To give up? I can't help the thoughts as I hunch over slowly, laying down on my side on the ground. I breathed out a pained sigh. My lids growing heavy.
"It... It was nice meeting you, Barbatos. I'm glad I was able to call you and everyone else I knew... a friend." A single tear falls down my cheek as I close my eyes, accepting my fate.
