I stood before the large sakura atop Mount Yougou. It had a fox, or I suppose it might be a kitsune, design carved into the wood of the tree.
"So this is the Sacred Sakura." It was massive up close. The breeze rustled the leaves softly, causing petals to rain down every now and then. Footsteps approached from behind. I turned my head to glance at who it was. Miko walks up to me, her eyes casted up at the Sacred Sakura.
"Admiring the view?" She asks and I nodded.
"I am. Though, I'm curious... Why does the Sacred Sakura have a kitsune carved into it?" I asked her. She chuckles, a playful smile on her face.
"Well, when the Sacred Sakura is in your care, you can chose however you want it to look like. The Sacred Sakura has been in the care of the Kitsunes for many years now. Surely that should be reason enough for us to influence its appearance." Huh, it does make sense... Though, something was bothering me.
"Before the Cataclysm... was the Sacred Sakura always here?" Miko raised a brow.
"Odd you should ask. Ei also asked me that after she returned from Khaenri'ah. To answer your question, yes. The Sacred Sakura has always been here, atop Mount Yougou." That's... odd. If Ei asked about the Sacred Sakura's existence, then surely that must mean it probably wasn't around before the Cataclysm. Yet, according to Miko, it's always been here. It would also explain why Makoto asked me if there was a great sakura tree here. If it had truly already been here all this time, then she would have already known the answer. I shake my head, clearing it of those thoughts. There's no point in worrying about it. It's not important to me being here at this time.
"I assume we're ready to get going?" I ask her and Miko nods.
"We are. I presume you don't know the way?" I nodded. She sighs with a shake of her head as if disappointed in me.
"Fine. I shall lead the way." I huffed at her back.
"Sorry that I haven't been to Inazuma in my own time, yet! I'll be sure to go on a tour all around Inazuma once I get back." Her lips quirk up in a playful smirk as she plays along.
"Good. As long as you've learned your lesson, all is forgiven."
The trek back down the mountain is easier than the one going up and with Miko's guidance, we soon found ourselves in Araumi. Rather than going all the way around the base of Mount Yougou, Miko had us take a left after reaching the Kamisato estate (of which I learned about after asking Miko), as there were bridges that could take us right to Araumi. Before long, I was able to spot the ruins that Miko had told me about along our trip.
