"Be brave", Lo'ak whispered to Tuk. The young girl was shaking with fear against the railing. No one should have to go through what she has. Li'teya slumped against the railing after discovering there was no way they could pry the cuff off. Lo'ak shimmed closer to Teya, wrapping his tail around her comfort.
The loud battle cries n the distance made the Na'vi's ears perk up. Around the rocks, the whole Metkayina Army appeared on Skimwings and ilus. It was a magnificent sight. Hope filled Teya as she watched her father and Jake lead the army.
"Dad", Tuk beamed happily. Teya looked towards Lo'ak happily; they were going to be ok.
Quaritch lifted Lo'ak's intercom once more, his voice filling Teya's ears as she still had hers in, "Sully, tell your friends to stand down".
"Sir", one of the avatars stood behind Quaritch, whispering in his ear. Teya saw the anger flash across his face as he turned towards her.
Quaritch grabbed Teya's queue, harshly pulling he head back. Lo'ak struggled against his cuffs as he watched Teya whimper in pain.
"I've just been informed Freddie Evans is among those indigenous over there", he hissed, holding her tighter with every word.
Teya's eyes widened; she had forgotten entirely that she had told him her father had died all those months ago in the forest.
"сука" she whispered.
"Huh, Russian, Where you'd learn that outcast?" the leader spoke again.
"My father fought in the Russian war before he became an avatar driver."
"So you're Freddie's daughter; where is he?"
"He died when you demons returned; that's why I'm an outcast," she said, lying through her teeth.
"You're not lying to me, are you?" he asked, pulling her queue harder.
"Let go of her!" Lo'ak shouted, trying to get the attention of his Teya. Quaritch motioned for one of his minions towards Lo'ak. The avatar pushed him to the floor, firmly skinning his knees. Blood trickled down his shins as Quaritch also threw Li'teya onto the floor.
"If you want your children, you and Evans come out alone" he unholstered his gun, pacing the tip to Lo'ak's head. "You know better than to test my result."
"No, Lo'ak", she pleaded. "Please don't hurt him; shoot me instead, please", Teya cried, knowing she could never live with herself if Lo'ak died.
A wicked smile appeared on the colonel's face. "I can do that" the gun was now placed on Teya's temple.
"Wait," a voice said through the intercom. Teya opened her eyes at the sound of dads voice.
"Do as I say. I took you both under my wing, and you betrayed me." Teya wrapped her tail tighter around Lo'ak's. If she was going die any second, she wanted the last thing she touched to be him. Her love. Her escape.
"You both killed your own. Good men and women. I will not hesitate to execute your kids."
The gun was pressed further into her head, making Teya close her eyes in fear. Memories of Tsu'tey filled her brain. She had been so scared about Lo'ak that she had forgotten the most important person in her life. She knew if he was here, he'd whisper calming words to her no matter what was happening; he always put her first.
