Chapter 33

La Estrella

I asked for closure, but life gave me things to overthink it felt more like torture.

I learned so many things and they were more than enough that rainy day.

Not that I was making comparisons in a romantic approach, but the way they handled my curiosity.

Unlike Yves, Gio has been proactive when it comes to my questions.

I learned that he'd most likely answer someone whenever a question has been served to him. Straightforward or ambiguous, it doesn't matter. He always has the answers to every question he's given.

In fact, maybe he was right. He didn't lie about his relation to Tobie. He simply didn't tell me because I didn't ask. Also, he wasn't obliged to reveal it anyway, because we weren't at the level where we casually discuss our pasts.

Because he would answer it, right?

"This is so frustrating!

I heaved a deep breath before lifting up myself to bathe.

"By the way, we were looking all over the place for you yesterday, Gio.

I fought my urge to flinch and went to Genesis quietly.

"There was something I needed to circle back around with my superior at work. Sorry for not letting you know immediately," I heard Gio answer flawlessly.

"Same goes for Riz! Strange, huh? That's very unlikely for the both of you to just leave without saying a proper goodbye."

Now, everyone's attention went back and forth between me and Gio.

Luisa shrugged. "Well, your text message was a mess to me, so maybe you're right."
