(A/N)

because I want to try, here's this story.
To be honest, I'm bad at romance... worse than a normal story I suppose.
I thought combining it with something with heroes and villains it would be easier. Mostly I just wanted to write a fanfic about mha lol.
So if you want to suggest an idea for the story, or how to improve storyline wise, please, be my guest in the comments!
Also, I appreciate you reading this, and the fact that you exist!

Anyway, here's the story!

~Love, waffle with chocolate and marshmallows

I'll just use they/them pronouns, (only this chapter is full of them, the rest you'll barely see them)
I don't want to assume everyone reading this is only one gender I guess.

This story is about a child who has to try to find their place in the world. Naturally this does not go easily.
But it wasn't always hard for them, thanks to their family.
—————

Back when they were a little girl, for instance, they were sitting on a bench, looking patient, while she looked at the many people, feeling slightly anxious.
The trees were a spring green, the sky was blue with a few clouds here and there. It was a nice day to be outside, why were they feeling sad?
Nobody paid them any mind, yet they wanted their parents to return. They could see their mom and dad, they were talking to the ice-cream lady.

They looked back to the many people, they wanted the people to leave.
Or they themselves wanted to leave the people.

Suddenly the world shrunk, the child let out a squeal at the experience. To their surprise it sounded more like a squeak.
Breathing heavily they found themselves on all fours. They were scared, but when they looked down at their hands they got horrified.

Instead of normal fingers, the fingers looked sharp and thin. The arm of the child was coated in white fur.
They sat down on their feet and found themselves completely covered in said fur. When they felt their face it was pointy.
Scared out of her whits they called out to their mother, "come please!"

Walking around on the bench, they wanted to get off, maybe they could walk to their mother?
Looking over the edge the ground was so far away...

Their paw slipped, they tried to get a hold of themselves by digging their nails into the wood, before they knew it they were falling down to the ground.

Hitting the ground pain spread trough the child's body all over.
They hated being small, they wanted to be taller.
The world gained size again. Quickly they looked at their hands which were back to normal.
The small child cried out in relief, now they could go to their parents.

"Dad, mom!" They yelled out after they got up.
Said parents were both running towards the child.

"Sweetie!"The dad cupped their face, "are you alright?"

The mom smiled proudly, "was that your quirk?"

The small child hadn't even thought about it, their quirk?
If that was their quirk, they didn't want it. It was scary, and nasty. Being a mouse wasn't nice. (Sorry nezu)

The child's parents were proud tough, it was a really nice quirk.
After some practice and research it appeared her quirk was quite different than they had seen.

"I wish I could be a cat!" The child huffed in frustration. Again their world shrunk, this time they were taller. Looking down at their paws they were completely grey fur.
They felt their head and two big ears had grown.
Her brother excitedly started petting them before they revealed nails. The child had to refrain themselves from scratching, the idea usually wouldn't even come to them.

It appeared that their personality could chance slightly depending on the animal they turned into a lot.
For instance when they're an elephant they're slightly more anxious, but more considered as wel. When they're a rat they're more disgusted, when they're a deer they're more proud.

The child's parents stayed proud of them, our dearest child was glad with that. Each time at school when they talked about quirks (all the time) they made fun of hers. It was useless.
The child ignored them and believed her parents. They would become a hero, and really famous, so they could prove them all wrong!
