Chapter 6: "We are not letting that Barney impersonator win!"

"It's a long story buddy and we need you to fill in a few blanks for us." Steve says from behind Natasha.

"Yeah, like why you are helping a madman?" Charlotte scoff. "How do we know if he is even on our side again?" She turns to Loki and Nat.

"Can we make sure somehow that he is not?" She asks him.

"I could try to read his mind." Loki turns to Bruce. "Would you let me?"

"I..." he hesitates but quickly changes his mind when he sees Charlotte's glowing hands.

"Sure. I don't remember what happen and I'll do anything to help us figure out whatever the fuck is going on." He puts his head in his hands when the group notices a slight green tinge in his neck. Nat quickly grabs his hands and starts to rub circles on his palms.

"Hey," she says gently. "We are here to help, ok? No need to bring out the big guy. Let's take a deep breath." Nat takes a deep breath and Bruce follows her lead. After a few minutes, she gets up and turns to Loki.

"He should be good." She whispers. Loki cautiously approaches Bruce and kneels down in front of him.

"Bruce, I'm going to place my hand on either side of your face. This will not hurt you in any way." He raises his hands but waits for Bruce to acknowledge him before he proceeds.

"We good?" He says and Bruce nods yes.

"OK, here goes." He places his hands on Bruce's temples. He closes his eye and his hands start glowing green. Charlotte stands by Loki and gets concerned when his body starts to quiver. Her soulmate bond warns her that something is not right. She reaches over and puts a hand on her husband's shoulder. A jolt of energy goes through her hand and up her arm. She jerks away.

"What the... Loki?" His body continues to quiver, she leans in to see blood coming out of his nose.

"Loki? You need to stop!" She puts both hands on his shoulders and closes her eyes. She concentrates and enters his mind. She finds herself in space, standing on a black surface with jagged rocks all around her.

"Loki?" she whispers.

"Charlotte!" He whispers back from behind her.

"Loki!" She jumps into his arms. "you have to stop! Your nose is bleeding!"

"Darling I'm alright. I had to break a very powerful blocking spell to get to Bruce's memories." She hugs him tighter.

"And now I have found what we are looking for. Come with me." He takes her hand and leads her to a large rock formation about ten feet away. He puts his finger on her lips to tell her to keep quiet. He slowly creeps up behind the formation and looks over the top rock. He points off in the distance and Charlotte gets up on her toes to see. About 20 feet away from them, she can see the Hulk kneeling in front of a very large, very purple man, Thanos. They can hear his booming voice from their hiding spot.

"So the Asgardians have themselves a pair of soulmates? Interesting. Their power would be beyond anything we can harvest. And they have offspring! More soldiers to add to our family." Thanos moves aside to reveal Ebony Maw.

"You have him under your control?" Thanos asks Maw.

"I do, Sire." Maw flicks his hand and The Hulk's body floats up in the air.

"Excellent. You will send him to Earth to retrieve them. Especially the Asgardian and the children. Use whatever means you seem fit. Once you have them, go to Knowhere to get the mirror. It is crucial to my plans." Charlotte starts to freak out when she hears him talk about them. She goes to get up, but Loki stops her.
