Y/N and Midoriya tried to break out of the metallic restraints. However, their attempts were completely futile; it seemed like they wouldn't be able to stop this guy before he'd get his hands on the briefcase. With no one else in the room, other than the villains, possessing a Quirk that could actually be used to fight, Y/N's confidence in the level of protection that was on the briefcase was... quite low.
Speaking of Quirks, from the instant the villain used his Quirk, Y/N already had a decent idea of what it could be. Right before they had been captured by the metallic bonds, the villain had placed his hand on the wall of a room made of metal. To Y/N, it seemed like he could manipulate metal, which was extremely unhelpful when YOU'RE IN A ROOM MADE OF METAL!
Melissa had made her way over, but her efforts to save them were unsuccessful, which wasn't a surprise to Y/N.
"Stay there quietly for a bit," said the villain with a glance at them before turning to face the two scientists. "Sam, where's the device?"
David's assistant, otherwise known as Sam, snatched the briefcase from him without hesitation and jogged to the villain, "H-Here."
"Ymm gmgmmt bmme kimmmdng mmmmeemm!" said Y/N through his blocked mouth. What he actually said was 'You've gotta be kidding me!'.
'That guy was a traitor all along!'
{Hmm, I thought so.}
"That explains why the hired villains are actual villains."
"Don't tell me, from the beginning..." Dave began in shock, "...you were planning on giving it to the villains all along? Y-You're the one who tricked me."
Y/N's eyes narrowed at Sam, feeling more anger surge up inside of him. That traitor...! How could you betray someone like David Shield, who was willing to commit crimes just to help his friend? ...OK, so while his actions weren't exactly the... 'best' way to solve things, it's the thought that counts... maybe.
"I served you for so long," Sam said without even looking at his former boss, "but you let your research be frozen so easily, and the honour and renown we were supposed to get all went away..." The man, with tears forming at the edges of his eyes, now decided to turn his head around to look at Dave. "If I didn't get at least some money, then it was a waste of my time!"
Sam faced the villain again, who pointed a gun at him as he said, "Here's the reward I promised you."
Y/N's eyes widened, already knowing what was to come, and a deafening bang echoed across the storage room. Blood splattered from Sam's shoulder as he fell to the ground, whilst Melissa placed a hand on her mouth and said, "Sam!"
"Wh-Why...?" the injured man asked, like this outcome wasn't to be expected. Y/N had a feeling this would happen; villains were never trustworthy enough to actually rely on. Plus, it's not like there was actually a need to reward Sam when he had the opportunity to easily dispose of him. "This isn't what you promised!"
"Promised?" the villain repeated with the gun still pointing at Sam. Then he chuckled, "I don't remember. This is your reward." Y/N could see the amused grin on the villain's face, satisfaction evident. It just sickened Y/N even further and gave him more motivation to break out.
However, just as the thought planted into Y/N's mind, he heard another gunshot. For a moment, he was in belief that Sam had been murdered then and there, finished off with one final gunshot. What he didn't expect was David Shield to have stood in the way. The man fell to the ground after sacrificing himself to save his assistant.
Y/N's heart was broken. He couldn't think straight, but rather feel immense hatred toward the villain, feel a massive urge to kill him once he broke free. He didn't know why he was feeling like this; he knew for a fact he didn't normally act or think like this but he no longer cared. In fact, Y/N didn't care about many things anymore. He just cared about killing the villain right where he stood...!
