Well it's raining today. I already have a bummed mood from last night and the weather really isn't helping that much. Marie is on call this weekend which means she has to go in from 5 until midnight. Unless there's an emergency then she's there longer. Our on call weeks start on Sunday so someone else goes in tomorrow if they need a vet. We just had lunch at one of the little mom and pop shops in town and now we're heading home.

"So, are you going to show my parents the envalope tonight?" Marie asked

"Why" I asked

"Uhm, because my dad was betting that you were going to make it" She laughed

"Oh. He's ya'lls horse though. And I don't have a trailer" I said

"So, Connor goes. And he'll just have to suck it up and deal with whatever it is that has his panties in a twist" Marie said

"He doesn't even go every week" I laughed

"So? You did pretty good pulling the trailer. And if i'm not on call i'll be coming with you anyway" Marie said

"You'd spend your saturday nights with me at the rodeo?" I asked

"See my girl in action? Hell yeah" She smiled

I gave her a smile and we pulled up to the house. Running inside, we plopped ourselves on the couch and sat around most of the day. I'm currently scrolling through facebook, I never really go on here. Its family and people from back in New York. I think there's people I went to college with too. Huh, would you look at that. I love how nobody told me that my uncle died. I liked that uncle too he wasn't an ass like the rest of them, well he was but he was a ball buster. We got along and he didn't get on my nerves. Today was apparently his funeral.

"Oh my moms making meatloaf for dinner" Marie said

"Nice" I replied

And silence. I'm sad. I, I don't know, I kind of want to go drive around. Maybe i'll do that and be sad in peace. I mean I got an hour to kill before dinner.

"I'm going to go for a drive" I said

"In the rain?" Marie laughed

"I like the rain. I think I need gas anyway" I replied

"Okay. I'll meet you at my parents then since I need my truck to go to work" Marie said

I nodded and grabbed my keys off the wall. Walking outside, I looked around and sighed. Jogging off the porch I hopped in my truck and started her up. Driving down the road, I went down random streets and just looked around. There's a lot of farm land around so the animals aren't really out since it's storming right now. I guess I should turn around. I don't know. If you're wondering the radio is off, since it's my phone, and there are silent tears. I mean yes, I moved across the country because my family drives me insane. But, when they die you don't have the, oh I can just go visit them, in the back of your head. I mean don't get me wrong. I'm not moving back to New York. Fuck that. But if I ever start to miss them, alls I have to do is buy a plane ticket. Maybe I should of just stayed in Kansas, I wonder if she went to the funeral. Or hell if she even knew.

"Is this thing over heating" I said looking at my gauges

Shes currently pushing pushing 215 so i'm going to go with yes. I don't know where I am, or if there's any coolent in the truck so I might be fucked. As I thought to myself my truck made some sputtering noises and shut off. Great. Pulling over to the side of the road, I put on the E-brake and turned the key off. I guess i'll just be sad here for a little bit. Once I got myself together, I hopped out into the rain and put the bench seat up, ah yes, a full bottle of coolant. Thank you past self for re-filling my stock. Walking to the front of the truck i'm already soaked and I popped the hood. Grabbing the cap for the radiator, my dumbass forgot that they're extremely hot for a while, so I just burned my hand.
