Tom and I are in the same room, this could be icky. He does look different, and that's why I didn't recognise him. Somehow he looks more grown up. I'm sure he's still the same boy-ish guitar playing lad he always was. His hair is shorter, and as I glance up quickly I know he's recognised me. I'm sure that I look different too, I can tell this by watching the way his eyes widen.
Tom was my high school sweetheart, we dated off and on. We ended things sourly. And if I remember correctly the last contact I had with him was Matty answering my phone and telling him to leave me alone.
Tom actively ended our relationship however with his actions, he started seeing another girl and that did it for me. That was my last straw. I sigh and glance at Jay. Looking at him after laying eyes on Tom, I realise that Jay is exquisite. His eyes sparkle when he looks at me.
"So Tom huh?" He smiles.
"Yeah, a long time ago. Before everything." I tell him in his ear.
"He's standing behind us, far wall, 8 o'clock" I say indicating where he is to Jay.
"What did he possibly do to lose a beautiful person like you?" He sighs after briefly looking over his shoulder. Jay does not care that Tom regards him back. Jay is the epitome of an alpha male, he outranks most guys if not all of them.
"He lost me because he started seeing somebody else at the same time, as me." I say flatly.
"The last time I had contact with him, Matty basically told him to fuck off" I say to Jay and he scoffs.
"Firstly" he says softly.
"I'm glad you recognised your worth and left him, what an idiot. Having you and not seeing how special you are" he sighs.
"And secondly, trust Matty to be telling other guys to fuck off" he laughs and I giggle."Yeah so I'd rather not repeat the whole fuck off away from Taylor shit, that's happened before" I smile and he chuckles.
"I won't say a damn thing. I know Taylor that you have got your own back. I'm just here for support. I mean playing games like that with guys like Josh that's ballsy" he sighs.
"Yes he needs to be taken down a peg or two" I say.
"The whole look at me I'm a sports student shit and the jersey" I roll my eyes.
"Typical right, just like politics majors always getting what they want" he smiles down at me.
"Yes just like them too" I laugh and kiss him. He extends the kiss and I let him.
"You got all that you wanted?" I whisper whilst he lets me take a breath.
"Yes and more" he says smiling at me.
"I think when we were here before, and not together" he adds.
"I spent the entire time watching you." He sighs.
"Trying to catch moments with you" he laughs.
"I know we made out in the bathroom, and that was pretty intense." I laugh.
He chuckles and his hands tighten around my waist.
After a minute I break our comfortable silence.
"My head can never be turned Jay, I want you to be sure of that. I get what you were saying earlier about Josh and how you freaked out, but honestly I'm in love with you. And I mean it when I say that I can't be taken by anybody else" I say looking into his eyes.He looks at me earnestly, sighs and shakes his head.
"That means everything" he says and kisses me again. His hand comes around to my waist lingers slightly and then reaches up to my cheek stroking me lightly.
