Beeeep

"That's Clyde! I've got to go, dad! I love you!" I yelled out, heading towards the door. I was wearing a simple light blue dress with a light face of makeup. I didn't want to look as if I was trying too hard for him, because you already know damn well that I am not chasing any man, but I also wanted to fit the style of the party.

"I love you too! Stay safe!"

And with that, I shut the door, and ran towards the black mustang that sat outside my house. Clyde opened the door from inside of the car and I quickly got inside. "Where's the party at?"

"My place," he smiled at me, "Wanna choose the music?"

I shook my head, "Whatever you want to listen to,"

A smirk appeared on his face, "Sure thing, gorgeous,"

As we drove, a variety of songs played and Clyde's hand on my knee gradually made it's way up my thigh, stopping to ask me if I was okay with his movements everytime he made one. I nodded each time. Although, once we finally pulled into his driveway, his fingertips lightly tickled my inner thighs.

We both made our way out of his car and headed towards the entrance, our arms linked. Before we even entered, it seemed like everyone and their mom was there. The entire yard was filled with cars. But I couldn't expect anything less, Clyde was a popular guy. But suddenly, just as we were about to go in, I stopped.

"Clyde?"

"Yes, beautiful?"

"What are we?"

"What? What do you mean?

"What am I to you?"

I stood there, kind of shocked I even asked him. I have no idea where the sudden surge of boldness came from.

"Nevermind," I grabbed his arm and took my hand to the door handle, "It's a stupid question,"

This time, he stopped me, "No, it's not. We can obviously both feel the emotion between us,"

He looked down at my lips, and just as I thought he was about to kiss me, he looked away, "I just don't know if we're both ready for another relationship yet,"

"Yeah, that's okay. Let's just go in,"

I can't believe I've made it awkward already.

I wanted to smash my skull into a brick wall when I finally swung the door open and everyone stopped to see who was entering. Tons of faces with shocked or angry impressions on them. A few girls who I knew liked him seemed quite sad. I really wanted to turn tail and run, but Clyde placed his hand on the small of my back and leaned down to match my height, his breath hot on my ear, "Would you like to sit down?"

I nodded. It felt really awkward because everyone was still staring. Not a single person had adjusted their gaze. "Why're they all staring at us?" I asked back as he led me through people to a black leather couch. He sat down in the middle of the couch, next to were Kenny and Tammy sat. Clyde patted the empty spot to the right of him, implying that I should sit next to him. I did so, and he leaned in again so I could hear him above the music. But he wasn't able to speak before someone spoke to me first.

"(Y/n)? Are you serious? You're moving on already?" The voice was distraught and I wasn't really able to make out who was talking. I looked up and made eye contact with a boy I haven't talked to in months. Not since my boyfriend, his best friend, died.

I'm beginning to think I shouldn't be allowed outside of my house anymore. Everytime I leave, something bad happens.

"Stan?" I gasped, placing my hand over my mouth.

"Kyle loved you! It's barely been two months and you're already with someone else!"

"Stan, Clyde and I aren't--"

"Shut up!" Tears of pain and frustration welled up in the corners of his eyes, "How could you do this to him?"

I wanted to tell Stan. Tell him what Kyle tried to do to me two days prior. How he touched me. How he yelled at me and called me sick names. And how he treated me in the last month or so of our relationship entirely. But I wouldn't dare destroy Stan's image of his best friend. And even if I told him, he wouldn't believe me.

"You should leave, Stanley," Clyde said after realizing the situation.

"What..?"

"I said go. Leave the party. Drive home,"

His jaw dropped, as if he somehow hadn't expected to get kicked out. He stomped away and I shrunk uncomfortably into the couch. I wanted to leave so damn bad.

"Damn, that fucker is persistent, huh?" I heard Kenny mumble, placing his soda can on the coffee table.

"I thought you two were friends?" I questioned. Did I crush their whole friend group?

"Not anymore. Stan still rightfully blames me for Kyle's death,"

"Babe! The accident was not yours fault," Tammy butted it, placing one of her hands on his chest. Kenny just shook his head and kissed her forehead. My face screwed up at the sight, and Clyde could clearly see this.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Can we just dance?"

"Yeah! Of course. Do you want to come with us, Ken?"

Kenny nodded, grabbing Tammy's hand. She was wearing a beautiful dark pink dress that complimented her brown eyes perfectly. She looked gorgeous. Of course Kenny is attracted to her.

Why do I feel so much jealousy towards her?

Clyde put his hands on my hips and I placed mine on his chest. He looked so handsome tonight. And, thankfully, by this point everyone else was dancing to the music. I looked over to see Kenny's fingers entangled in Tammy's hair as he kissed her with pure passion. I looked down and stared at the heels on my feet. Clyde's finger slipped under my chin, forcing me to look up at him.

"Can I kiss you?"

Can he kiss me? Would I let him? Could I enjoy it? The only other person who's kissed me is gone.

"..Yes,"

He leaned in, his lips lightly parted. My nose filled with his cologne as I met him halfway. Our lips met and I could feel fireworks exploding throughout my entire body. My heart was racing with extreme speed. I pushed our chests against each other, feeling as if I couldn't get enough of him.

"I like you, (Y/n),"

"I like you, too,"
