Three years. Kenny and I were together for three years. Crazy, right? I'm twenty-five years old now and at this point in my life, after feeling like a lovestruck, hopeless romantic teenager for most of it, I am actually happy.
A big smile spread across my face as I thought about it, but that smile disappeared quickly. Painfully quickly as my dad messaged me about what happened. Shock covered my face. Everything was suddenly beginning to overwhelm me as two terrifying sources of news just hit me like a truck.
kennys pov now!! good luck lol
I have a very special plan set up tonight for (Y/n). While today marks some very traumatic events, it also marks out third anniversary together and I wanted to make it a special one.
I've had a reservation set in place for this event for months. And I've saved up so much money. It's been easier since (Y/n) and I have split the bills; I've been able to set aside more cash for this particular special thing I want to do.
Right now, I'm getting a suit tailored and my phone is buzzing. Awkwardly, as to not move too much, I grab my phone and answer it.
"Yes honey? What's up?"
(Y/n)'s sweet voice came up over the phone with distress, "My mom and Paul are in prison!"
"Diana and Paul? What? Baby, tell me what happened,"
Her sobs were quiet but hearing her like this brought me so much pain, "Paul had her on some sort of drug and convinced her to rob a bank. They found her insanely intoxicated and was barely conscious, but she was armed,"
I tried hard to comfort her, "It's okay, sugar, I'm sure--","
I was cut off and told words that crushed my heart, "Maybe we should cancel our plans tonight babe. I don't know if it'd be a good idea to go,"
"No! (Y/n), it'd be good to get away! Take your mind off of all of this; it isn't good for you. Let me melt your worries away,"
She was a little hesitant to agree, but after a while she finally caved and agreed to go to dinner with me.
"I love you, Kenny,"
"I love you even more,"
And with that, and a pounding heart, our call ended and I let out a sigh of relief.
"Special date tonight?" the tailor asked as he adjusted the length of my pants.
"Very special," my smile beamed.

A few hours passed, to give (Y/n) time to get ready as she wished. I stayed out of the house so she didn't feel pressured. But now, the time to head up to the restaurant was coming very soon and I had to go pick her up.
I waited five minutes, at first, when I arrived back home. Then ten. Then fifteen. Finally, I exited my truck and decided to go inside to see what was happening. I expected the worst. Maybe her body was laying somewhere and I was just sitting outside while she desperately needed me in a life or death situation. Instead, I saw her looking at herself in the mirror, struggling to finish zipping up her dress.
"You look beautiful," She jumped as I said that and turned out with a smile, "Would you like some help?"
"Yes please. This is so difficult. I'm sorry for keeping you waiting,"
"It's okay, gorgeous," I stepped up behind her and gently tugged the zipper to the top of the fabric, then let my arms snake around her waist. I wanted to embrace her for as long as I possibly could, but I knew that if we stayed too long, we'd miss our reservation.
