Chapter 8: We're not popular

Sophie's POV

Art, Chemistry and now English?! I swear, Josh is everywhere.

The teacher introduced him, he told us about himself, bla bla bla.

"The new boy is a real cutie." Hailey said while practically drooling.

"Woah, Hailey. Don't say that." I said gagging.

"Why not?"

"He's the guy who was rude to me the other day, and the guy who bumped into me in the cafeteria."

"That... doesn't sound like him."

"Oh trust me girl, you don't know him as well as I do."

"Maybe it was someone who looks like him."

"No, it's him."

"Well I think he's cute."

"Hailey, I hate him."

"So?" she asked.

"So, it would be wierd if my best friend thought my enemy was...cute."

"Whatever Sophie."

After that Hailey completely ignored me the rest of the lesson. At least Josh doesn't sit with me in this lesson.

Lunch

"English was horrible." I said as Lily, Hailey and I sat down at our usual table.

"Really? I thought it was the best English lesson ever." Hailey said while looking at me.

"I'm confused. Was it horrible or amazing?" Lily asked.

"Horrible!"
"Amazing!"
Hailey and I both said at the same time.

" Well ok then." Lily said, still very confused.

"Oh my gosh, look who's coming this way." Hailey said freaking out.

I looked behind me and saw Max (one of the popular boys) coming to our table. My heart started doing somersaults in my chest. I always had a small crush on Max, but I didn't make it a big deal because I always thought he was too good for me.

"Hey ladies." Max said.

"Heyyy Max." Lily, Hailey and I said in unison.

"So I'm having a party tomorrow and I was wondering if you wanted to come."

"We'll be there." I said, excited.

Max gave me a big smile and walked away. I think I was going to melt. That smile had the most gorgeous dimples ever.

"Sophie, he is totally into you." Lily said looking at me with a smile.

"What, no he's not." I said coming back to Earth.

"He was practically looking at you the entire time." Lily said.

"You know, it's wierd how Max, a popular dude, invited us to his party. I mean, we're not popular." I said. "What if this is all a prank?!" I said starting to freak out.

Then it hit me. Max is friends with Josh. Great. Just when I was starting to get my hopes up.
