I swear everywhere I look, Sophie's there. Either laughing it up with her friends or grabbing more chewing gum from her locker. That girl practically lives off chewing gum.
Next class is...right. Chemistry.
........
"First we're going to have to start with the-
"Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah. Wait a minute. Who says you can call the shots?" Sophie said, clearly angry.
"Sophie, not now."
"No. I think now's a really good time."
"We've been over this before. I'm the smart one who'll get an A on the individual mark, and you just sit here and look stupid."
"Hey! I can totally get good grades if I wanted to." Sophie said defensively.
"Ok Sophie."
"No seriously. I only get average marks because I don't care enough to put in the effort, but if I did put in the effort...I might even be the school nerd."
"You can be as nerdy as you want but no one will ever be as nerdy as-
"Nerdy Neo." Sophie and I said at the same time. We both looked at each other for a split second and just looked back at our books.
Woah. Did Sophie and I just...agree on something?! I must be super tired from this week. Just one more day till the weekend. You may not see it, but just know, I'm celebrating on the inside.
......
I thought the day would never end. Now I have a butt load of homework to do. Great.
I didn't even step foot in the house when my mom already bombarded me. Uh oh. The last time this happened, we were going for dinner at the Sinclair house. This should be good.
"Sweety, what are you doing here?" my mom asked.
"Uh, I'm your son and I live here?" I said, sort of confused.
"That's not what I meant. I meant, why aren't you at Sophie's house."
"Uh, because I don't live there." I said even more confused.
"Oh you." my mom said as she playfully smacked my shoulder." You two have a project together, right?"
"Uh, it's either you follow me to school or you're psychic."
"No man. Your chemistry teacher told all the parents on the group chat that you guys had projects, and we need to make sure you're working on them."
"Of course he did." I said, sighing.
"So, I'm making sure to follow orders and keep an eye on you."
"Of course you are." I said sarcastically.
"And you are going to Sophie's house to work on the project."
"Of course I am." I said, dreading every second of this conversation.
"Or she can come over here."
"Of course she can." I said, gritting my teeth.
"Young man, you have no choice."
