The police (Part 12)

Iris POV

I could even call the police if I wanted too... I don't know where my phone is. Not like it has and service anyway.

Im in too much pain to fall asleep. It would be better to sit her and look out for anyone that could potentially hurt me.

I was alone for a while. This place doesn't have any windows so I can't make an inference on what time it was. I know I've missed a few days of school but I couldn't care less at this point. I barely know how to read. No one ever took the time or patience to teach me.

My dad is in a sketchy business, that's all I know about his job. I often see him and his friends loading up guns. I soon learned to watch in secret. One time when they caught me watching they put a gun with no bullets to my head and pulled the trigger. That was one of the scariest experiences I've ever had.

While I was lost in my morbid thoughts I was not keeping alert like I was supposed too. Loud voices brought me out of my thoughts.

They where laughing and stumbling. I knew exactly what that meant. They where drunk.

When they got to my line of sight I pushed myself to the wall to put to as much distance from me to them as possible.

As they where clumsy gaining on me, I started to involuntarily whimper. I know my dad doesn't like it when he can hear me. He says sluts are supposed to be seen, not heard.

They where about 6 feet away from me by now. I knew by the time they got to me, I would be in a lot of pain. I had to brace myself.

One of his friends, name I can't remember, pulled me up by my arm. The chains I forgot I was attached to rattled.

He got into my face slurring words I couldn't make out, yelling at me to do something, I couldn't tell you what.

All of his words where blocked out  by loud irritating sirens. It was all to much. The sirens where get closer and louder. The warehouse was filled with loud noises. I heard yelling and all the men ran. I don't know what's going on.

There was so many noises. I felt extremely light headed.

When the police man got to me I finally passed out. The last thing I heard was a crack...

Calliope POV

I'm in bed with my wife think about my new job and a particular little girl that caught my eye.

The tiny one hasn't been in school the past few days. I did a one on one for every student but her. I don't know where her mind is at.

I've established three groups, all of them at a different levels. That way, I will be able to teach my children everything they need to know at different paces.

My mind just keep going back to the little girl that ran into me. Maybe the fall hurt. I did see her rubbing her behind and limping away... oh god... She might have hurt something! I knew I should have checked more thoroughly!

"What wrong?" I jump from the sudden noise and she has the nerve to laugh at me.

" if you really wish to know I may have broken a kids ass"

"How did you do that" she chuckles out

"This is not a laughing matter! She may be extremely hurt!" I fell horrible

"Will tell me what happened babe" she says tiredly

"My last period class a few days ago, this little girl ran into me. She was really small, to small to be in high school, let alone middle school. She was really dirty and I immediately fell for her. And she hasn't been in school for the last few days and I'm worried she might be hurt."

Zoey looks at me with a sympathetic smile.

I'm sure she's fine. She probably would have said something if was hurt badly. She could have gotten sick. Something could have happened. Don't make assumptions that worry you my love"

I smile at her.
"I hope your right"

After kissing me she gives me a heartfelt goodnight and we both retire for the night.
