I parked my BMW and sighed while gripping the steering wheel, today was the first day on the set of my new series; Once upon a cloudy Monday. Even though we wouldn't be shooting today, I was very nervous to meet everyone and discuss the whole series with the directors, screen-writers, etc.
I got out of the car and made my way inside, greeting the few staff members I did know and going to introduce myself to those I didn't. I found an empty chair next to a table near the main conference room and sat down, not soon after a tiny, blonde girl bowed and asked if the other chair was occupied. I told her that no, it wasn't and watched her sit down.
She had brown eyes, rather thick lips and the black roots of her blonde hair were starting to show, she wore beige baggy pants, a white crop top and white sneakers. Honestly, she looked like she belonged in a Korean step up movie.
"Are you an actor?"
I had been so busy eyeing her look, I had failed to see her turn to look at me.
"Yes, my name is Kim Taehyung, nice to meet you" I bowed in my seat as she did the same.
"Son Chaeyoung" She answered. "I'm an assistant, this is my first time meeting a real actor" hearing her giggle made me want to smile. We briefly talked as she explained she was Kim Sejeong, my female co-star's assistant.
She told me what a wonderful boss Sejeong was, praising her endlessly which in the end made me wonder if Sejeong had put a microphone or was spying on her in some way. I talked about my last series and told her how excited I was to be part of the cast and explained the plot to her a bit.
After probably forty minutes, the entire cast and higher crew entered the conference room and the meeting started.
Sejeong, whom I had previously met at my third audition was sitting down next to her assistant. I saw Chaeyoung whisper something in her boss's ear making her turn my way and wave. I smiled shyly and waved back, rapidly bringing my attention back to the meeting.
Everyone introduced themselves, then the different writers took turns speaking and sharing their vision for the show and three hours later the meeting was over. Hearing and talking about the series really made me excited for the first day of shooting, the plot was really interesting and I couldn't wait to start.
From the corner of my eye, I saw a brunette heading my way, with her black turtle neck, black pants and messy bun, Sejeong looked like an impressive business woman.
"Taehyung! I'm sorry I couldn't greet you sooner, I actually got here late" She bowed before taking me in her arms and smiling wildly.
Sejeong was always smiling and laughing, I had never seen her angry or even heard anything bad about her, everyone I had asked told me she was the most wonderful person and so far, I had to agree with them.
"It's okay, I had a lovely chat with your assistant"
"Chaeyoung? She's amazing, isn't she? Always working hard and with a smile, I really think I can make something of her, shield her from the mean actresses that would take advantage of her good nature"
She told me how she had "stolen" Chaeyoung from another actress that would make her work long hours without paying her the extra time and verbally abused her. I was in shock about the girl's poor treatment, as well as in awe of Sejeong's kind gesture.
When the day ended, Sejeong and I sat down inside a cute café nearby, with nothing better to do and the rain pouring outside, we had decided to settle down and chat some more.
"This is nice, we can get to know each other a bit better for our upcoming series together"
"Why do you sound so formal?" My question made her burst out in laughter and shake her head as she apologized, I think we were both a bit uncomfortable, but we quickly started talking about Once upon a rainy Monday and everything ran smoothly from that point on.
After talking about business and business and then business some more, Sejeong opted for a change of subject when she suddenly asked me about my partner. I answered I had one and that we had been together for two years then proceeded to ask her the same. She told me she was single, that she may have her views on an established actor with whom she had participated in a variety show.
"My boyfriend is currently finishing a TV series, he's starring with Cha Eunwoo, I don't know if you've heard from him?" I finished my sentence but the way she rose up in her seat and her eyes started to sparkle, already gave me an answer.
"Of course I know him! He's such an terrific actor, and a great guy! We worked together on a variety show last year!"
"Oh, so he's the one you have your eyes on?" I smiled as I watched her freeze.
"I didn't cover that up very well, did I?"
"I guess not"
We drank our coffee and ate the biscuits until the rain stopped when we bid goodbye to each other and went our separate way.
I hadn't realized just how much I had enjoyed myself today until I found myself going over it over and over in my head. Sejeong was such a pure soul and I was convinced we could get along really well in the future and the thought of having made a new friend was a high I wasn't used to feeling.
For once, I had come home after Bogum, he was on the couch reading a book and drinking wine when I entered the apartment and took off my coat.
"How did it go?" He asked me from the couch.
"It was really great, I went to get something to eat with Sejeong and we ended up talking quite a lot"
"Happy to hear you made a new friend" Two arms wrapping around me sideways made me pause and smile. "Hi"
"Hey there" I answered and pecked his lips. They were soft and tasted like wine.
"I ran into Eunwoo today at the golf course and he was with none other than Jeon Jungkook"
"He was?" Hearing that name made all sense of happiness drain out of my body. "Why???"
"Apparently they've become friends. Eunwoo said Jungkook was his only friend who liked to bikes and since Jungkook is teaching him all the tricks to riding them, Eunwoo decided that in return he would teach him golf"
I felt Bogum release his hold on me and go stand in the kitchen.
"I can hardly imagine Jeon Jungkook playing golf" I muttered and went to pour myself some wine.
"So anyways, Eunwoo invited us both over for dinner this Saturday, said we could invite a guest if we wanted as well"
"That's nice of him, we haven't been to his place in some time" I already had the perfect idea of who I should bring as a guest.
"Jungkook will be there as well, I hope that's okay with you"
I wanted to say that no, it wasn't okay, that the last thing I wanted to do was spend an evening with my ex-boyfriend but I feared talking about Jungkook too much in Bogum's presence could make him think that something more was going on.
"I don't mind, I'm actually thinking about bringing Sejeong, she and Eunwoo have met already so I'm sure it would be a great reunion"
Bogum nodded his head and went back to the couch as I called Eunwoo to tell him that we would be bringing someone else and ask about the details for the night.
