The party had started a bit more than an hour ago, the seven boys were all sitting together at the same table but had agreed not to stay as one group the entire evening. Taehyung had run into Soojin who was now a trainee idol apparently, in the same company as Soyeon, her and Hoseok had broken up a little bit after senior year when they decided to pursue different careers, but they remained on good terms.
Right now, Jungkook was chatting with Yuqi and Daniel from music club, there was a time Taehyung would have felt jealousy like he did back in high school, but now he could stay comfortably seated and not worry about his boyfriend.
"You enjoying your night?" Yoongi asked, pulling up a chair next to him.
"I am! I saw Umji earlier, she's as cute as ever"
"I forget you used to be such a social guy, what made turn so hermit??"
Taehyung looked at his friend before answering.
"I don't know, the industry, I guess"
"I've heard it can be very hard to trust people" Yoongi patted his friend's back, taking a sip out of his drink. "You and Jungkook look really happy though"
"I know I am. I've never felt so happy and complete, I feel like my life is finally back on track for the first time since I started my third year here"
His third year was the year Jungkook had transferred here, with his scowls and posse of girls trailing behind him at any time of the day. Taehyung remembered the boy's terrible ways and snarky comments, but also how alive he made him feel and how he'd get up every morning looking forward to seeing him.
Another hour went by and one student got on stage to start making the speech and thanking everyone for coming and so the group left the table to go stand with the other students on the dance floor. A few meters in front of him, Taehyung saw a beautiful silhouette, Heejin's dark hair were twisted in five different braids, her dress was slim, she looked as beautiful as always.
"For her amazing performances in many dramas in the past years, we would like to welcome Lee Heejin as queen of this reunion!!"
The crowd erupted in cheers and whistle noises, Heejin looked genuinely shocked and happy as she made her way up to the stage.
"And as for king, we call none other than award winning actor Kim Taehyung!! Give it up for Taehyung!"
As a reflex, Taehyung looked to his left where Jungkook was already looking at him giving him thumbs up. All of his friends pushed him towards the stage all the while congratulating him. Once on stage, he went to hug Heejin, in a way, he was glad to be sharing this moment with her, it had never occurred to him that the people in charge of the reunion would be looking at what everyone was up to.
The pair thanked the students in a half serious way before ordering the DJ to play danceable music. He did not disappoint and in ten minutes the dancefloor was filled with students having fun. Taehyung took advantage of the moment to dance with Heejin a bit, it was their first time letting loose like that and having fun. Heejin had always been worried about appearances and Taehyung had forgotten the meaning of fun when he had decided to become an actor.
Eventually, his friends came to get him and go show the school to Seokjin. They stayed as a group until they arrived at their old classroom, Taehyung locked hands with Jungkook and pulled him to the back of the classroom, sitting down at his desk. Jungkook took the hint and went to sit one desk behind him, diagonally.
"Brings back a lot of memories" Taehyung looked around, he somehow wished he could go back to this period of his life.
"Not all good ones, but in the end, I wouldn't change anything" Jungkook got up and locked his arms around Taehyung's chest from the back.
