The next morning, my hopes of refreshing my boyfriend's memory and giving myself some respect were crushed when I woke up alone in my bed. I checked my messages and saw Bogum had to leave early for an emergency shoot. I threw my phone away and got up, he had just gotten back but was gone again and once more I could eat breakfast by myself and hang around alone all day.
At two o'clock I decided to go out, I had been cooped up all day and had already read the script for my upcoming series. With nothing better to do, I put on my sweater on top of my blue jeans, grabbed my bag and left the building.
I walked into a local café I loved and saw Jungkook sitting down with a beautiful brunette. I instantly recognized Heejin and remembered she always came here after interviews or shows. I hesitated to go greet her but Jungkook made the decision for me when he waved at me making her look and invite me over.
I walked with dread and gently greeted her and her companion.
"So, how come you're here? I thought you'd be spending the day with Bogum"
"He had to get up early for a shoot" My voice trailed, I felt a bit embarrassed. They both knew I had just been alone and now that he was back, he was already shooting again.
"He seems very busy, must be hard" I looked at Jungkook, I couldn't tell if he was joking.
His hair wasn't done today and a few strands of hair covered his eyes, he had traded his suit for a t-shirt and black jeans which made him look effortlessly handsome.
"Relationships are hard" I answered. "It's a small inconvenience but I know that once our careers take off we will finally be able to have more control over what we choose to star in and everything. It'll be much easier to share a life then"
"I honestly don't know how you do it" Heejin shrugged and shook her head. "If I was with someone, I'd need him to be at my constant beck and call and give me all of his attention. I mean why live with someone if you never spend more than an hour together?"
"I agree with you, Heejin. I'd need a partner who values our time together as much as I do, someone who trusts me and finds me his equal"
Jungkook's words may have been vague, but I knew exactly they were about me and how I had treated him back when we were together.
"Sounds like there's a past behind those words" Heejin chuckled before her eyes landed on me and she stopped. "Oh"
I watched her try an uneasy smile before looking at the menu she hadn't open ever since she had sat down.
"I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back" She got up and walked away, leaving me alone with Jungkook.
None of us spoke but I could feel myself losing my cool just looking at him sitting down, completely chilled. It was as if Heejin's absence had made me remember who Jungkook was and what I felt for him and since I was already worked up from last night's events, seeing him so quickly after the little stunt he pulled yesterday at the train station was too much for me to remain calm.
"So, you two are eating together now?" Talking about his relationship with Heejin seemed to be the only topic I could think of any time we were in the same room.
"She invited me to a meal, is there a problem with that?"
"No, of course not" I looked away and scoffed, of course there was, were they becoming friends?
The waiter came and asked for our order.
"And what will your girlfriend have, sir?" He asked and looked at Jungkook.
"She's not his girlfriend" I said. I saw Jungkook look at me and ignored him. "Why would you assume they're together? Are you an idiot? She's an actress! Don't go spreading false rumors like that" I could hear my voice growing louder with each phrase, I was getting angry.
