CHAPTER 20

CHLOE smiled to herself while looking at the table which she just finished setting. She just finished cooking their breakfast and she couldn't be prouder of herself.

It was the first time that she made an effort cooking for someone. She only cooked for herself for a couple of times and that was it because she wasn't the best cook. But this time, she made sure to perfect everything even though she had the hard time doing so.

Well, she followed the instructions on the article carefully so she was sure that she perfected it. Kinda.

"Cross? Breakfast is ready!" She called for him after she set up everything but she didn't hear any response at all. Her eyebrows furrowed and decided to look for him.

She found him at the gate and it looked like he was repairing it.

"Hey, what are you doing here? The food is ready." He lifted his gaze from what he was doing and looked at her.

"Food is ready? You cooked something for breakfast?" She nodded her head.

"Yes. I hope, you don't mind."

"Of course, not. In fact, I'm excited to taste your cooking." She bit her lower lip.

"Just a warning. I'm not good in cooking."

"Anything you make is surely good." She couldn't suppress the smile that appeared on her face.

"Anyway, what are you doing here? Is there something wrong with the gate?"

"Yes, but it's not that bad. I noticed the problem yesterday but it's just a minor one. It's been a while since someone came over here so it's acting up like this. Five minutes and I'm done here. You can eat first." He then shifted back his attention on what he was doing.

But instead of doing what she was told, Chloe pulled the garden chair and sat on it, watching Cross of what he was doing. He was really was good in everything and she couldn't help but to admire him.

Growing up with a silver spoon in her mouth, almost every guy in their circle knows nothing but to spend their parents' money in everything that they could think about unlike Cross who was working hard just to achieve the things that he wanted.

He was so different compared to the men in the high society, especially her ex.

"I'll just wait for you. I prefer for us to eat together." He glanced at her with a smile on his face.

"Really? Aw. My cariño is so sweet. Me too. I prefer to eat with you. I'm already hungry and I'm really excited to eat what you made. I bet, you're a good cook." Chloe's cheeks went red.

"Don't get your hopes up. I already told you. I'm not that good in cooking."

"And just like what I just, I'm sure that whatever you make will surely taste delicious. I'm sure of it." She rolled her eyes.

"Flatterer."

He chuckled. "I'm just telling the truth, cariño." They became silent for about a minute or so as he continued what he was doing while she was watching him. He was already sweating but he still looked hot and neat.
