CHAPTER 54

CHLOE tried to push him away but it felt like she was pushing a wall. The kiss was surprisingly gentle but she was too mad to even give a damn about it. 

Even though, admittedly, that kiss almost made her knees wobble, she gave her all not to get swept away by it.

When she still didn't succeed on pushing him away the second time, she kneeled him between his legs but to her surprise, it seemed that he already predicted her next move because he managed to avoid her attack.

Because his attention was disturbed by that failed action of hers, that was when she managed to push him away and landed another slap in his face. He grunted. She wasn't the violent type of a person but she didn't care anymore.

Maybe, by doing this, she would manage to shake some sense into him.

"How dare you kiss me without my consent?! Is this all you got? No explanation at all? Just kissing me to shut me up?!" He closed his eyes as if he was having a hard time calming himself down before releasing a deep breathe and then fluttered his eyes open once again.

She felt like her tongue stiffened upon seeing the sadness in his eyes.

"Chloe, you've got it all wrong." Even his voice was full of sadness but she didn't let that get into her. She has to toughen herself this time.

She laughed bitterly. "Really? How come? Don't tell me, you're going to convince me that there's nothing going on between you and Paige?" She scoffed. "I don't know why I still want to hear your explanation after every pain that I've been through because of you. But I know that I will not be able to completely move on without hearing it from you.

"At least, maybe, I could finally tell it to myself that I wasn't the one at fault and that I shouldn't chastise myself because of your doing. And that you're not worth it." His already somber eyes squinted in obvious jealousy.

"So, you've decided to really move on from me and forget about us after hearing any explanation from me, is that it?

She raised her chin proudly. "Yes. I've loved you too much that I forgot how to give importance to myself as well. I gave you all the love that I could ever give to anyone but what did you do in return? You broke my heart into pieces. At least, you will be free to be with Paige without hiding." Her voice almost cracked upon uttering the last sentence.

Her heart was breaking into pieces all over again.

"What if I'll tell you that nothing is going on between me and Paige in the present nor had any affair with her in the past, will you believe me?"

"Tell me a reason why I should believe you because the last time I checked, you never cared enough to even think of what I feel. You're only thinking about yourself, your goals and your lies. There was never me in your priorities."

"That's not true."

"Then, tell me what's the truth because I can't take it anymore!" She exclaimed in fury but he shook his head.

"I told you that I would eventually tell you everything, right? Can't you at least, wait for a little bit more? Our situation right now is not easy for me too. Can't you tell that it's killing me too? All I'm asking from you right now is more time and understanding. Can you give me that?" His voice was surprisingly melancholy.
