CHAPTER 36

CHLOE just stood there like a snake has just bitten her while looking at Cross full of disbelief and confusion. Yes, she was sure that she was staring at the love of her life but at the same time, different.

"What the hell is the meaning of this?!" The angry voice of Vito echoed throughout the entire party hall and everyone became silent, looking at him and Cross alternately. Just like them, everyone seemed to be surprised of what just happened.

Instead of getting intimidated by Vito's angry voice, the corner of Cross' lips twitched as he smirked.

"I don't have anything to explain to you." He answered nonchalantly and then looked at the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Larsen.

"Dad, happy birthday again. I'm here to get what's rightfully mine from the beginning. I hope, you don't mind this small commotion. Don't worry, we'll leave right away after this."

"We?" Was all that Mr. Larsen could say and that made Chloe's jaw drop. Did Cross really call Mr. Larsen 'dad', the CEO of Larsen Corp.?! What's happening?

"I can't believe this! Stop your son from creating a scene here or else, I'll be the one to do it! He's embarrassing Vito in front of everyone, claiming Chloe as his as if he has a right to! Chloe and Vito belong together. That's the plan, right?" Mrs. Larsen's voice was full of acid and hatred while looking at Cross who didn't seem to be affected.

Vito on the other hand looked like he was about to attack Cross any moment because of so much rage and Chloe didn't know what to feel about the whole situation. Yes, she was happy that Cross came but at the same time, she didn't expect this turn of events.

"I'm sorry to break it to you, Beatrice, but just like I've said just now; Chloe belongs to me and no one has the right to be with her other than yours truly."

Mrs. Beatrice Larsen's face contorted in anger. "You—" But whatever she was about to spew was cut off when her husband held her hand, silently telling her not to speak anymore.

"Why are you stopping me from saying what I want to say? Are you just going to stand here doing nothing while your son is embarrassing me and our son in front of everyone like this?! I can't believe this!"

Mr. Larsen released a breath and then spoke while staring at Cross. "Son, can we speak outside for a minute?" That confirmed what she just heard a while ago. Cross was indeed Mr. Larsen's son. But how come he seemed unwelcome?

"I'm sorry, dad, but I didn't come here for that. I came here for my woman. Maybe next time." He then walked towards her direction and her heart started racing. She bit her lower lip while looking at him. He really looked so handsome but there was something about him right now that added to his appeal which took her breath away.

Their gazes locked and she saw the admiration in his eyes while raking her a stare and it made her heart swell.

"Not so fast, young man." The magic spell between them broke when her father suddenly blocked his way and pulled her behind him as if trying to protect her from Cross.

"What is the meaning of this, Mikael? This isn't our agreement!" Chloe winced upon hearing her father's angry voice. Mr. Larsen huffed and then looked at her father.
