CHAPTER 29

CHLOE kept on glancing around as she walked towards the elevator of the parking lot, looking for Cross. They didn't meet yesterday because they were both tired so they decided to meet today at work.

Today was her first day at work after her 2-week vacation and upon parking her car just now, she got out right away because she was excited to see her boyfriend.

But to her dismay, until she arrived on her floor, she hadn't spotted Cross. While walking towards her office, she was still glancing behind her, hoping to finally see him.

"Looking for someone?" Chloe gasped in surprise as her steps came to a halt upon hearing that voice behind her. She turned around and their gazes met.

"V-Vito."

"Good morning, Chloe. Welcome back to work." He then handed her a big bouquet of flowers.

"Oh, thank you. You didn't have to give me a bouquet."

"C'mon, Chloe. I've missed you and I've been looking forward for today because I knew that you would finally come back."

She forced a smile. "Thank you, Vito. It's beautiful." That seemed to please him.

"I'm glad you liked it. Anyway, how's your vacation?" The first thing that came to her mind upon hearing his question were her and Cross' happy memories in Cupid's Island and she didn't even notice that she already had a smile on her lips.

She and Cross both agreed to go back to the Island when they have time and even though they weren't sure when yet, she was already excited about it.

"It was wonderful, Vito. I can say that those two weeks were the best days of my life." She couldn't help but to day dream like a love sick teenager. Oh, gosh! She was indeed in love!

VITO'S eyebrows furrowed while staring at Chloe. She had that smile on her face and it was his first time seeing her with that kind of expression on her. She looked radiant and more beautiful. In fact, she was blooming like a flower in the spring and for some reason, he felt like something was off.

"Really? Were you with someone?"

"Yes. I was with someone."

"Was it Jana? I'm glad that you guys had the chance to have a girl bonding time. Ever since she stopped working as your shopper three years ago, you two rarely go out because you both are always busy."

"No. I wasn't with Jana." She began walking towards her office and he followed her.

"If you weren't with Jana, then who were you with?" He noticed how Chloe's forehead crinkled. He cleared his throat. "I mean, your father has been worried about you. Apparently, you didn't tell them about your vacation."

She sighed. "I didn't tell my parents because I didn't want dad to ruin my vacation for me." She opened the door and they both entered her office. He was about to answer when he noticed her staring at her table so he followed her gaze and saw three freshly-picked long-stemmed roses.
