The accident

Main characters of this chapter- Mark and Jack

Mark and Jack were going out on a date tonight and they were both super excited as they haven't had the chance to go out for awhile and Mark was going to propose to Jack tonight at the restaurant. He was so freaking excited as they pulled out of the driveway before making sure they were both buckled up. "Where are we going Mark?" Jack asked basically bouncing in his seat causing Mark to chuckle "Its a surprise darling, you'll see when we get there" Jack smiles and sits back in his seat and turned up the radio when they stopped at the light and Jack started to sing to Mark. Mark smiled to himself and saw the light turn green so he started to go but glanced to his right to look at Jack and saw a car speeding towards them. He gasped in a panic and tried to spin out of the way but he was to late and the car crashed straight into Jacks side of the car, he looked over at his boyfriend who had died on impact but he didn't realize as the car rolled and everything went in slow motion. Once the car had stopped rolling and was upside down on the side of the road Mark glanced to Jack who wasn't breathing anymore. "No...No no no!!" Mark panicked and tried to grab his phone and call 911 but he already heard sirens "Jack please! You can't leave me!!" He sobbed as he grabbed onto his boyfriend the best he could until the paramedics and firefighters got there to get them out. They got Jack out first then Mark, Mark limped over to Jacks lifeless body ignoring the yelling paramedics "Jack I'm so sorry darling...you didn't deserve this...you deserved the world and I will find who took that from you. I promise you." They took Jack away and Mark broke down into tears again in the middle of the road.

Two weeks after the accident and the day of the funeral

It's been two weeks since the accident happened and today was Jacks funeral, everyone had been so supportive to Mark and helpful but he wanted to find the person who did this. He slipped on his fanciest suit and opened his bedside drawer to grab something and saw the ring he was going to propose to Jack with and he started to tear up as he slipped it in his pocket. Before he left for the funeral he got a call "Hello? Is this Mark?" "Yea who's this?" "This is officer Blake, we have caught the suspect and he has been arrested. He will have serious charges. We are so sorry for your lose." Then he hangs up without saying a word.

Mark sprinted to his car (Which has been repaired) and drove to the funeral home. He parked and walked inside and greeted everyone as they walked in. Once everyone was there he walked up to the podium and looked at everyone tearing up "The person who caused the accident has been caught and arrested and faces multiple charges...that doesn't account for the fact that my Jack is gone because of him..." Mark pulled the ring from his pocket and showed the crowd who were confused at first "This is the ring I was going to propose to Jack with that night, as we were on our way to the restaurant a drunk guy ran a red light and killed my boyfriend....I will never get over this and I hope that asshole lives with the guilt forever" Mark stepped away from the podium and over to Jacks casket and placed the ring on Jacks finger himself and started to cry "I will always love you Jack. Boyfriend, Fiancé, Friend. You were always there for me and I'll always be there for you" Mark kissed Jacks head and left.
