Akiko's POV
We walked in, only to see Kakashi-sensei in front of us. "I see. Sakura, you've come too," he sighed. We looked at him, confused. "Now you can formally register the Chuunin Exams," he continued. Sakura interrupted, "What do you mean?" I looked at her then at Sensei.
It made sense that he would doubt the smart one, especially a weak smarty like Sakura. Kakashi responded, "Actually, from the start, only three man squads could apply and take the exams." I shifted uncomfortably. There were four of us and it was supposed to be a three man squad.
"But Sensei, you said that the decision to take the Exams was up to the individual." Sakura protested. He thought you wouldn't take it. Now, Sensei began to awkwardly stare at the four of us, "Yes...I said that." My eyes widened, and I inevitably asked, "Were you lying?" He looked at me, "Yes, I was."
He then looked out the window, then at Sakura, "If I said that, Sasuke and Naruto would probably forcefully convince you to take it. Knowing Akiko, she would've substituted in your absence, and earn double the grade for your sake. Even if you didn't have the will to apply, if Sasuke asks you, you would attempt to take the Exams half heartedly. For Sasuke's sake and, well, Naruto's."
Sakura pieced it all together, "Then, if...it had only been Sasuke and Naruto, and Akiko who had come here?" He sighed, "If Akiko had come, it would have worked out, if not...well...I would've stopped the Exam here." I began to breathe heavily, and I felt Naruto grab my hand.
Kakashi-sensei continued, "I wouldn't have felt like letting them go beyond this point. But...you guys came here on your own will." I began breathing normally, and filled with pride. "Sakura!" she blushed. "Naruto!" he smiled. "Akiko!" I grinned. "Sasuke!" he smirked.
"You're a team I'm proud of," he smirked even more. Then, he moved away from the doors. "Now then, go on!" Naruto and I looked at each other and smiled, both of us yelling, "Okay! Let's go!" Sasuke and Sakura opened the doors, and we entered.
We entered into a room FULL of ninjas. I could nearly sense all my pride crumbling away. So many people. "Sasuke-kun, you're late!" I looked over to see Sasuke tackled by Ino(Pig). Sasuke, in an attempt to get free, grabbed my wrist. Of course, Ino was completely unaware and kept flirting with an irritated Sasuke.
And, I looked to my right and saw a very upset Sakura. Right away, the two began arguing. The Pig and the Billboard, the seperated duo. I saw Shikamaru and Choji walk up to us. "Are you going to take part in this bothersome Exam too?" he sighed. I responded, "Apparently."'
Then, I heard another voice, "Yahoo, I found you!" I'd recognize that voice anywhere. It was Kiba and his team. He looked amused, "My, my, everyone's here."
I looked at my arm, and Sasuke's hand on my wrist. In an attempt to break both of us free, I pulled his arm one way, and kicked Ino off him. He let go of my wrist and made a "Hn." sound
Wow, you're welcome, duckbutt. Ino, landed on her bottom, and replied, "Owww!" Akamaru sniffed my scent and woofed. "Wow, if it isn't the little lost puppy, hanging with the stray cats," Kiba smirked. I growled at him, "Let's see how long you last in there, Inuzuka!" He smirked. Hinata stuttered, "G-guys, c-can, w-we not fight, y-yet?" Naruto spoke up, "She's right." Hinata began blushing like mad.
"You guys should be quieter," another unknown voice responded. We all turned to see a boy with grey hair and round glasses.
He reclaimed, "You guys are the "rookie nine"...fresh out of the academy, right?" Naruto replied, "Ten," and raised my hand. The boy looked at me and smirked. I lowered my arm.
"Who're you?" Ino shouted, "Acting all haughty!" The boy smirked, "I'm Kabuto Yakushi. Anyway, take a good look around you."
We all looked. There were strong ninjas everywhere. "Behind you...They're from the Rain Village," Kabuto informed, "They're hot-tempered."
He attempted a calmer tone, "Everyone's tense before the Exam." He smirked, "I thought I'd warn you before you get your butts whipped... I guess it can't be helped. You rookies don't know left from right. You remind me of my old self." I was glaring at him. My Aniran was threatening to be used. Then, he let out Ninja Info Cards. He used his chakra to activate the cards.
Sasuke tried to find out about Gaara, and Lee. He was only told about Lee's taijutsu improving. I sighed, then Kabuto mentioned Gaara and I quickly began to stop breathing. Gaara was once working a B-Rank as a Genin, and came out uninjured.
I then remembered a name. Someone the villagers were talking about, and scared that he would join the Exams. Someone named, 'Scar.'
"Wait!" I said. Kabuto nearly put away the cards, but looked at me. "Anyone you want to find out about, young lady?" he asked. I nodded. "Scar of the Leaf." Everyone looked at me, and Kabuto found the card.
"Scar: He seems to be advanced in Taijutsu. Not better than Rock Lee, but good enough to beat most people. Also apart of a solo team, his Sensei being Lady Anko, and his jutsus seem to be dangerously active." "He seems to be stronger than most of you here," Kabuto muttered in amazement. I heard him perfectly, but others struggled to hear him.
I gulped, he seemed really strong. I sensed a dark, strong, vengeful chakra. I looked around, but I didn't see anyone who matched that amount of chakra. The eerie sensation creeped me out. So, I decided to focus on something else.
Ino and Sakura were fighting again. I sensed an overwhelming amount of chakra coming from the other applicants. Naruto yelled, "I won't lose to any of you!" Everyone was staring at...me? No, at Naruto.
Sakura choked Naruto. "What're you talking big for! You!" Naruto tried to speak, but choked on his words, "But, what was true, I say!"
I grabbed Sakura's shoulder. She stopped choking Naruto and looked at me. "I know what he says is true, so trust him," I said, looking at her sideways. "B-but Akiko," she whined.
Out of thin air, I noticed the Sound Ninja move. I saw one of them try to attack Kabuto with kunais. He dodged them, only to nearly get a blowing punch from another. He dodged it as well, but the catch was that his glasses broke.
"Oy!" I shouted. The bandaged ninja looked over to me. The chakra from him was quick, and quite strong. Kabuto nearly collapsed. An instinct of protection kicked in as Naruto and Sakura ran to his aid. I got in front of the injured Kabuto and the trio of Sound ninjas.
"Pick on someone your own size," I growled. The trio smirked as they saw me trying to defend Kabuto. "This one's good...enough," I heard the bandaged one say. He came towards me and I saw the blow, but then reminded myself that their jutsus depended on sound. So what's quicker than sound?
Light. I instantly did the Taijutsu that Sensei and I practiced. "Speed of Light." It got me past the trick. I managed to get by uninjured, as well as surprising my classmates. The Sound Ninja returned to their smirks. "Smart girl," I heard the Sound kunoichi speak.
"Silence, degenerates!" A voice was heard. A man with over a dozen shinobi appeared. "Sorry to keep you waiting. I'm Ibiki Morino, proctor for the first test of the Chunin Exam."
