Ichiraku had woken her up. Not that she hadn't been half awake yet. "Hey buddy what is it?" Akiko sleepily groaned. The dog barked and Akiko got out of bed. She walked to the kitchen and filled Ichiraku's bowl with dog food. She served it to him and he gobbled it all.
She went to her room and decided to change. She put on a skirt, with shorts underneath, a casual t-shirt, and strapped on her everyday sandals. Maybe she could talk to Sakura, or anybody who was basically outside. Ichiraku noticed his master changing and ran barking at her.
She chuckled, "Okay boy, we'll be going outside, but only for a little while." The dog seemed to understand as it sat next to the door. She smiled and opened it, the dog ran as fast as his tiny legs could carry them. "Hey! Wait up!" Akiko shouted as she ran towards her dog.
It was surprisingly fast for a puppy. She knocked into a few people and said a couple "Sorry!" until she managed to catch up. "Ichiraku!" She hissed. The puppy was sniffing the air until it turned the corner and say in front of someone who Akiko thought looked very familiar.
"Oh, Scar, I didn't know that you'd be out here," she said. It was the truth. "I needed to train, besides, I didn't know you had a dog," he replied. He kneeled down on one knee and scratched behind Ichiraku's ear. "What's his name?" He asked. She ran a hand through her hair, "Ichiraku."
Scar looked at her closely and raised an eyebrow, "Ichiraku? That's not necessarily a dog name." She sighed, "I know, it was Naruto who named him." Scar chuckled, "I should've known." Out of nowhere, Akiko felt guilty, really guilty. It wasn't her fault that she didn't remember Scar, but she didn't try to break Yūrei's Mind Seal either, it was just as bad.
"Scar?" "Yeah?" Akiko felt that this was her only chance at redemption. "I'm.....I'm really sorry," she said plainly. She felt like she was gonna cry, she had forgotten one of her best friends and acted as if he never existed. Scar didn't seem to get it, "Sorry, for what?"
"I'm sorry for forgetting you, for not making sure that I could break the Mind Seal before. I'm so sorry for leaving, for being a terrible friend to you." She felt tears stream down her cheeks. Ichiraku was sniffing her and pawing her leg. She felt like she wasn't going to be forgiven. It's not easy to forgive someone who was your friend that forgot you ever existed.
She was expecting him to turn cold, or to walk away from her. "I'm so so sorry for existing and ruining your life," she muttered, she was pretty sure that he heard her too. She found herself being hugged. Shocked, she turned to Scar, who was currently hugging her, "You never did know how to shut up did you?"
The tears wouldn't stop coming, and he felt Scar's hand stroke her hair. She rested her head at the crook of his neck. It felt nice and she didn't want to let go, but being in a hugging position for too long would've gotten awkward really quickly. She pulled away, which surprised Scar a little bit.
"So, can we be friends again?" She asked, a slight piece of hope sounding. He shrugged, "I don't really have other friends other than you and Naruto, so yeah." Way to ruin the mood. Akiko smiled, "Arigato Kaminari-sama!" Scar was caught off guard, "Kaminari-sama?" Akiko laughed, "I'm kidding, you're still Scar to me."
"Same old Akiko..." He murmured. She gave a slight smirk, "Is that good or bad?" He rolled his eyes, "Depends on how much you've grown up." "Bad it is then!" She declared. Ichiraku barked as Akiko kept doing random things, like shouting out "Dattebayo!" whenever Scar gave a mistrusting sentence.
To Scar, it felt nice to have his old friend back with him. To Akiko, redemption was granted for her, and so was the greatness of having Scar as a friend again. She got an idea to celebrate, "How about we go to Ichiraku's? I'll treat you." Ichiraku the dog barked happily and Akiko turned to him, "Not you."
Scar sarcastically chuckled, "A girl treating me to a ramen shop? You're stealing my role." Akiko shrugged, "It's not like it's a date or anything, I'm just inviting a friend to eat with me." Scar seemed to be a little more secretive at that. "Come on Scar, just like when I first showed you the shop!"
At least she remembered. Scar finally gave in and Akiko never seemed happier. They walked for quite a long time until Akiko stopped Scar. "I have to get Ichiraku home, lemme drop him off real quick, then we'll go." Scar nodded and they walked over to her apartment. Akiko walked up some stairs and once she opened the door, Ichiraku happily bounded inside and slept soundly on her bed.
"At least you're a heavy sleeper," she muttered. She closed the door and locked it. Then, she ran down the stairs to Scar. They walked for quite a long time, until some mutters were in the crowd. "Isn't that the girl from the Final Exams?" "You mean the one who transformed into the monster she is?" "Yeah...why's she with that kid?" "Shh, don't talk to monsters like them, they'll kill you."
Scar seemed used to the insults towards him, but he didn't see any reason for them to be talking about Akiko. She had been smiling but now, it seemed to be faltering. They finally reached the shop with no more questions asked about them. "Ayame! Teuchi-sama!" Akiko shouted. The father and daughter looked to Akiko, "Ohayo!"
Teuchi smiled, "Same as always?" "Yep," both Akiko and Scar said at the same time. Akiko noticed and started laughing along with Teuchi and Ayame, leaving a confused Scar. She playfully punched his shoulder, "Come on, have some fun once in a while." He shrugged and the two began talking, mostly about their sensei's.
"He's not that bad, he just reads Icha Icha every day. He doesn't speak much, and he's strong, but he doesn't seem like a typical Sensei type." "You're telling me. Anko-Sensei's a hard puzzle to figure out. Bipolar too. She could be childish and weird some times and the next be serious and bloodthirsty." The two shuddered at the thought of Anko being bloodthirsty.
Finally, their ramen was served, and they had the same ramen. "This day just got suspicious," Akiko sighed, and Scar couldn't have agreed more. "Itadakimasu!" They both shouted. Scar are slowly, and Akiko wasn't eating like a wild animal like when she was little. She noticed him staring, "What?"
"When we met, you ate more than expected. That was when Naruto was around. So when he isn't around, you eat carefully?" Scar concluded. She sent him a playful glare, "Shut up." She couldn't help but think that he was right. Only when Naruto was around did she eat wildly.
They acted like siblings, almost were siblings anyway. Scar finished after Akiko, who had been quiet for a long time. Suspicious. "Akiko, this is the first time I've seen you this quiet." She snapped into reality, "Sorry, just thinking." Scar sarcastically chuckled, "She thinks! The world is ending!"
Akiko smiled, but it wasn't a true smile like he had every day. She wondered about what others had said about her. She knew she had a monster inside her. One she had released with no intention. Was she really that bad? A slight pain hit her forehead, "Earth to Akiko." "Shut up Scar."
Akiko paid for their meals and they walked home. "So, do I walk the lonely sir to his beloved cave?" She asked, in a butler-like voice. He shook his head, "Milady has to go home first." She smiled, "Alright, alright." It was only a little farther, when they got to her apartment. "I'll see you soon Kaminari-sama," Akiko grinned. Scar rolled his eyes, "See you until then, Akuma-chan." With that, Akiko walked inside.
