"I can't believe you're using days off to leave instead of staying here with your boyfriend".
Rúben is laying down on my bed while I pack for my trip with Ines.
"Well, technically, we are creating content while we are there so it's not as bad as you make it sound. It's holidays but it's also work".
"Bernardo is sad too. Don't you feel bad making poor Bernardo feel sad?"
I don't know what makes me laugh more, what he's saying or how he's saying it. "Don't you feel bad bullying him all the time?"
He just rolls his eyes, but I can see a smile too.
I stop folding clothes for a second so I can join him in bed.
"It's just a week and a half", I say, kissing his cheek.
"Not just. It's a whole week...and a half".
"But you have Luna to keep you company".
"She's the only one who's loyal around here".
I absolutely love how silly he's being, mostly because I know he's joking. But it'll be good for us to be away from each other for a couple of days.
I'm not as dependent on Rúben as I was on Abel, since I now have friends of my own and a job I can concentrate on. But I really don't want to turn into the girlfriend that never sees her friends again. And the one who loses those friends once more.
So as hard as this will be, it'll be good for us in the long run.

"I'm going to the beach the moment we land", says Ines when the crew announces we are landing in 10 minutes. "I'm so tired of the cold weather in Manchester".
"I can't say I'm opposed to that plan".
"Also, no offence to the boys, but I really needed some girl time".
I laugh at that because I feel the same. "They are very offended but can't really do anything about it".
"I'm actually surprised you accepted to come with me, you know?"
"Really? Why?", did I give the impression that I didn't want to come?
"You and Rúben are in a honeymoon phase. I wasn't sure you'd want to separate from him for this long".
"I'm a bit surprised myself. But it'll prepare us for the future. My travelling and his travelling, for work, is going to mean we miss each other a lot".
"That also means a lot more great sex when you reunite", she shrugs, speaking a bit too loud, which makes a man look at us. And his face makes us laugh hysterically.
Yes, this week and a half will do me a lot of good.
