"Hey Engene," Jake said. He approached the younger after class. Engene turned at the sound of their name.
"Oh hey Jake. Whats up?" Engene asked.
"You like Heeseung right?" Jake asked getting straight to the point. Engenes face reddened a little.
"I mean...yes," they stuttered.
Jake frowned. "You don't sound sure."
Engene sighed. "Well, i know i like him but...Heeseung doesn't know i go by they-them, so it makes me uncomfortable when he refers to me by he-him. My parents didn't support my gender change so when he calles me that it reminds me of those unhappy times."
"So why don't you just tell him how you feel?" Jake asked. He had been worried about his parents accepting him but he hadn't need worry. He hoped the same for Engene.
"Im scared," Engene admitted embarrassment.
"Don't be. Heeseung is crazy about you. He'll accept you no matter what," Jake reassured.
"I know i know. Hey, how about this? If you confess to Sunghoon I'll tell Heeseung how i feel," Engene smirked.
Jakes face flushed. He had actually been planning to confess but had started having second thoughts. "Fine...if you do it then i will."
Engene smiled. "Okay deal."
Later
"What are we-"
"Shhh!!"
"Can you at least-"
"SHHH!!!"
Jake shushed Sunghoon for like the fifth time. He dragged Hoon up to the rooftop because he wanted to watch Engene confess with him.
"Hey Heeseung..." Engene started. They seemed pretty nervous which got Heeseung nervous.
"What is it?" Hee asked.
"I wanted to make us official. So i like you and i know you like me back. But there is one thing i wanted to clarify," Engene said.
"What?" Hee raised an eyebrow.
"I go by they-them not he-him. So i get a little uncomfortable when you refer to me as a guy. And yes i should have told you but i didn't know how to."
Heeseung immediately enveloped Engene in a hug. "I so sorry for making you uncomfortable. I didn't know. And don't be scared to tell me something. You can talk to me about whatever."
Engene gratefully hugged Heeseung back. "Thank you," they said and pecked Heeseung cheek. "I love you."
Hee blushed. "I love you too."
"Aww!" Sunghoon gushed quietly. "That was so sweet i might get diabetes!"
"Shut up, don't ruin the moment!" Jake said elbowing him.
"You shut up," Sunghoon whispered but stayed quiet. Jake rolled his eyes affectionately.
"Your lucky i like you," Jake whispered under his breath.
"What?" Sunghoon asked.
"Nothing!" Jake yelped.
I feel like i use the phrase: "raised an eyebrow" in like every chapter.
