"is it just me, or have you lost it like 10 times already " yunho asked as he rummaged through their belongings, hoping to find what he was looking for.
wooyoung, seated on a bed with the prince snuggled next to him, simply nodded, feeling guilty.
"forget what i said. we will find it, woo. don't worry," yunho reassured him, not wanting to make him any sadder.
wooyoung wiped away the remaining tears on his face, still just as sad as he was when he realized he had lost his most precious belonging. san had stayed with him through the entire night, sacrificing his precious sleep. he had tried several times to make san go to bed and let him have his mental breakdown, but he categorically refused. he even ordered woo not to ask him to leave again, which was like super unfair since he couldn't say no.
"it's not over here!" yeosang yelled as he picked up the mess he had just made by emptying every bag.
mingi , who was on the other side, did the same thing. "not here either."
"thank you, guys. i really appreciate it, but it's fine! i'll buy a new diary back in our town. i'll be okay," wooyoung said, getting up from the bed and trying to sound as confident as possible.
yunho and yeosang exchanged a glance, knowing that it wasn't just a diary that wooyoung had lost. they knew how much that diary meant to him - it was where he poured his heart out, scribbling down his deepest thoughts and emotions. losing it was like losing a part of himself.
but they didn't want to press him further. they knew how sensitive the issue was and how much it hurt him to lose it. so they nodded and tried to be supportive.
yunho walked over to him and put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "it's okay, woo. we're here for you. and we'll help you find it, no matter how long it takes."
wooyoung managed a weak smile, touched by his friend's words. he knew they were doing everything they could to help him, and that thought alone made him feel a little better.
but they had bigger things to worry about, like finding out about the said rebellion or this guard joo hyungwook. he had to be the bigger person and leave his worries to the side.
wooyoung watched as san rose from the bed and slowly approached him. he could feel his heart racing, but he was too busy examining the prince soft feature. san held his hands gently and looked into his eyes intently. "listen to me wooyoung - i promise that we will find your diary, i swore on my kingdom." he swore, with conviction.
wooyoung smiled in spite of himself; not only did san's words affect him positively, but it also made him realize how much of a mess he felt around the prince. it would be best for him to keep away for now, until he got a better grip on his emotions. cause he was acting like a little boy.
"next stop before we head back to the palace is oakwood." said mingi as he gathered some of his armories.
