the group of men were eagerly preparing to depart from their campsite and head back to the palace. everyone were packing up their belongings and loading them into the carriage and horses. it's been close to two weeks that wooyoung, the prince, yeosang and yunho plus mingi left for this journey. it was coming to an end which kind of made wooyoung a little nostalgic. this had been a great experience for him and he would do it all over again in a heartbeat.as wooyoung began to gather his things, he couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. the warm and bright sun, combined with the cool morning breeze, made him feel at ease. he stretched his muscles, which were a bit sore from sleeping on the ground, and took in the fresh air.
their journey had been relatively smooth which wooyoung was quite happy of. they hadn't run into anyone trying to kill them or something like that. he had never been on a journey like this before and he didn't know how to defend himself if something was to happen. maybe he could ask the prince to teach him some techniques when he'd get back at the palace.
"i'm going to go refill my water bottle at the river," wooyoung announced to his companions as he grabbed his empty container. he walked a short distance away from the group, eager to spend a moment alone in nature.
the sound of the flowing water was like music to his ears, and he felt a sense of calm wash over him. he made his way through the trees until he stumbled upon the river. a little bird was perched on a nearby branch, adding to the peaceful atmosphere.
the temperature was just right, and he was surrounded by the beauty of nature. he filled his water bottle, taking his time to appreciate the serene surroundings.
as he turned around to head back to the campsite, wooyoung was suddenly startled by a group of royal guards catching him by surprise. they quickly subdued him and put something around his mouth to prevent him from making any noise. the young man struggled against them, but they were too strong for him. there was literally nothing for him to defend himself with...
he mentally cursed himself for being that weak.
"what's going on? why are you doing this?" wooyoung tried to say through the cloth in his mouth, but it came out as muffled sounds.
the guards didn't answer him, instead, they tied his hands behind his back and started to lead him away from the river and back towards what seemed to be their own campsite. wooyoung's heart was racing, he had no idea what was happening or why he was being treated like this.
as they approached the carriage, wooyoung noticed the prince and his companions were nowhere to be seen. he tried to look around for them, but the guards were keeping a tight grip on him. a sigh of relief washed over him as he believed they were at least safe.
it wasn't until they were all inside the carriage and on the move that the guards finally removed the cloth from wooyoung's mouth. "what's going on?" he asked again, his voice shaky.
