as the group made their way back to the kingdom, they estimated that it would take them roughly three days. even though the kingdom wasn't too far away, they didn't want to push their horses too hard and made sure to take frequent breaks. the group was compassionate and understanding, making sure that their horses had plenty of time to rest and recuperate. after all they were their only way of getting back, of course they had to take a great care of them.

the group decided to set up camp near a serene river, not too far from the previous city they had stayed in. despite his unease with the forest at night, wooyoung found himself beginning to enjoy stargazing before drifting off to sleep. it helped him to relax fully and just sleep his worries away.

he felt relieved being surrounded by seven other individuals, five of whom were trained to handle any potential danger that might arise. so, he knew that there was only a tiny possibility of him getting hurt by whatever could be hidden in the forest.

as the sun began to set on the horizon, wooyoung found himself perched on a large rock near the water's edge, clutching his diary close to his chest. he still couldn't believe that san's relative, seonghwa had found his diary and brought it back to him unscathed. he felt incredibly lucky that fate had allowed it to end up in his hands, instead of anyone else's. s smile crept onto his face as he gazed at the horizon, watching the sky fill with beautiful shades of purple and pink that seemed to envelop the entire landscape.

looking at the view it made him forget the fate that was awaiting the prince back at his castle, it also almost made him forget for a second that his parents most likely died at this palace.

right now it was only him and nature.

"do you mind if i sit here?" suddenly asked someone, causing wooyoung to turn his head towards the voice. he quickly smiled softly at the member and scooted over to give him some space on his rock.

mingi smiled back at him and didn't hesitate to sit beside wooyoung, looking at what he was looking. "you look really happy sitting there, staring at this blue sky. what are you thinking about?"

"i love bright colours." he simply replied, still holding the book closely to his chest.

"tell me wooyoung. if something was to happen to me when we go back to the castle..." wooyoung stiffened and braced himself for what he had to say, not sure if he wanted to even consider the guard getting hurt.

"will you take care of prince san for me?" he finished, still not taking his gaze away from the sky.

wooyoung's smile faded as he listened to mingi's request. he felt a weight on his chest as he realized the gravity of the situation. if something were to happen to mingi, it would mean that their journey back to the castle would be dangerous and unpredictable. it also meant that the others weren't safe either... he really wanted anything but for them to get hurt. he might not hold royalty deeply in his heart but he knew those men deserved his respect. even tho he didn't know them for too long, it was just obvious that they were good people.
