Thomas held onto the paper. Believed if the professor was right, then it wouldn't have happened, soon the article would change! It had to!
He entered the city morgue.
He didn't want to see her lifeless body... but he had to. He'd spent five years never having seen her body, when he'd thought she'd gone to ash.
He hoped when they brought out her body, it would suddenly disappear... he wasn't sure how or if everything would change before his eyes... he could only hope...
"Anet."
"I'll give you a moment."
Thomas's heart lodged in his throat.
Her small form... he touched her hand. Cold.
"God!" He broke. "C'mon! Please! Please! Go back!" His voice coarse. "Go back..."
Her body remained.
"This can't be it, Slim! This can't be the end... not for you—God!" He swore. The ache in his chest more powerful than it had ever been. "I promise, you won't stay this way. Olivier is going to save you. You wont remember, but—," his hand stilled. "...Y-you won't remember!"
His brain sorted all the information he'd learned while in the future. "Time should already be changed. You shouldn't be here."
The door opened. "I'm afraid it's time to close."
Eyes on Anet's lifeless form, he nodded. Leaned, planting a kiss on her icy hand. "I'll see you soon." His voice below a whisper.

Thomas exited the morgue. Brisk pace turned to a full on sprint.
Out of breath, he reached Anet's studio.
She wasn't wearing any watch. From her actions these past weeks, she was intent on staying.
"Where would she put it?"
He searched and searched. High. Low. Behind and under every loose board and panel. Places obvious and inconspicuous.
Nowhere.
Not a thing.
The place was clean.
"She wouldn't hide it anywhere she wasn't going to be staying long."
He made his way to the Daisy-Chain below.
"Nick."
"Tommy?" He circled round the counter. Pulled his friend aside. "Where have you been??"
"It doesn't matter, I need to borrow your car."
Nick's eyes flit past Tommy, "Tommy, you—,"
Before Tommy could look—BAM!
His world went black.
